Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Divoom DitooMic — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HYY090468)
This 7.4V 2600mAh (19.24Wh) Li-ion cell replaces the original HYY090468 battery in the Divoom DitooMic portable smart speaker. The DitooMic combines Bluetooth audio with a pixel art LED display, and both functions draw from this single cell. When the original pack degrades, the speaker loses wireless portability — this replacement restores it.
- DitooMic cell fit: The DitooMic runs its amplifier, pixel display, and Bluetooth radio from one 7.4V pack. The HYY090468 cell matches the original connector pin-out and BMS handshake so the speaker's charge indicator and low-battery cutoff behave as they did from factory.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through combined audio and display load. The BMS held voltage above the amplifier's minimum threshold across the discharge curve and tripped the low-cell cutoff cleanly without audio pop or display freeze.
- DitooMic fuel gauge calibration: The DitooMic's fuel gauge drifts if the pack is never allowed to discharge below 20%. Run the speaker to its automatic low-battery shutdown at least once a month, then charge to full in a single session — this resets the gauge's state-of-charge reference and keeps the indicator accurate.
Why the DitooMic audio cuts out before the battery indicator reaches empty
The DitooMic amplifier has a minimum operating voltage slightly above the BMS low-cell cutoff. As a degraded cell's internal resistance rises, voltage sags under the combined amplifier and display draw — enough to drop below the amp's threshold before the battery gauge registers critical. The result is audio cutoff or distortion while the display still shows one or two bars remaining. A fresh cell with lower internal resistance holds voltage flat across the same load, so the amplifier stays above its operating floor until the BMS actually cuts the cell at the true low-voltage limit, typically around 6.0V on a 7.4V nominal pack.
DitooMic won't wake from USB-C after sitting unused for weeks
If the DitooMic sits discharged for an extended period, the cell voltage can drop below the USB-C PD minimum acceptance threshold — usually under 2.5V per cell on a 2S pack. At that voltage the BMS blocks the charge FET as a protection measure, and the charger sees no load, so it never negotiates power delivery. To recover, apply a 5V charge source directly and hold it connected for 10–15 minutes; most BMS chips on this chemistry will re-enable the charge path once the cell climbs above approximately 2.8V per cell and resumes normal charging. If voltage does not recover past 5.5V total after 20 minutes, the cell has sulfated and needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions
My DitooMic shows a full charge bar but the audio starts clipping and distorting after about an hour of play — is that the battery?
Yes. A worn Li-ion cell develops higher internal resistance over time. Under the combined draw of the amplifier and pixel display, that resistance causes the cell voltage to sag even when the fuel gauge still reads high. The amplifier clips because it's receiving voltage below its clean-operation threshold, not because the pack is truly empty. Replace the cell and confirm open-circuit voltage reads at least 8.3V before fitting — that confirms a fully formed cell with low internal resistance.
The DitooMic Bluetooth drops or stutters only when the volume is above 70% — it's fine at low volume. What's causing this?
High volume forces the amplifier to pull a large current spike on each bass transient. On a degraded or partially discharged pack, that spike causes a brief voltage sag that also starves the Bluetooth radio co-located on the same power rail. The radio drops its link for a fraction of a second and reconnects, which sounds like a stutter or cut-out. The fix is a fresh cell — we saw this behaviour disappear on the bench once cell internal resistance dropped back to spec. Keep the pack above 30% charge during high-volume listening to reduce sag depth while the new cell beds in.
The DitooMic feels noticeably warm to touch through the housing after an hour of use — is that normal or a battery problem?
Some warmth is expected — the amplifier and the discharging Li-ion cell both generate heat, and the DitooMic's compact housing traps it. The concern is if the case feels hot rather than warm, which points to a cell with elevated internal resistance converting more energy to heat than a healthy pack would. Check that the speaker's ventilation slots on the rear panel are not blocked by a surface or fabric. If warmth persists after fitting a new cell and clearing the vents, measure wall-charger output voltage — a charger supplying over 5.25V can cause the BMS to run warm during charge cycles.
