Fits Skullcandy Barricade XL speaker model 2SKSK1847 and Terrain; replaces OEM INR18650 cell.
3.7V and 2600mAh capacity restores full charge cycles to the portable speaker's audio and Bluetooth stack.
Single 18650 lithium-ion cell sits in the battery compartment with flat-top orientation and contact springs.
We bench-tested the INR18650 on a Barricade XL load simulator; BMS accepted charge and held voltage stable under audio playback.
Discharge the pack to below 20% once monthly before recharging — constant top-off charging causes fuel gauge drift on this cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Skullcandy Barricade XL / Terrain — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (INR18650)

This is a 3.7V, 2600mAh Li-ion cell for the Skullcandy Barricade XL (2SKSK1847) and Terrain portable Bluetooth speakers. It replaces the original INR18650 cell when the speaker no longer holds charge or powers on. Capacity is rated at 9.62Wh, matching the original cell specification.

  • Barricade XL and Terrain compatibility: Both models share the INR18650 form factor and the same 3.7V supply rail driving the amplifier and Bluetooth radio. The cell dimensions — 66.50 × 23.80 × 19.00mm — fit the battery bay on both units without modification to the housing or connector.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Barricade XL platform. The BMS accepted charge correctly from the USB input circuit and maintained stable voltage delivery under combined amplifier and Bluetooth radio load.
  • Monthly full-discharge cycle: These speakers are often left on a desk and topped off before dropping below 50%. Run the speaker down below 20% at least once a month before recharging. Constant shallow cycling causes fuel gauge drift on the Li-ion cell and accelerates real capacity loss over time.

Why the Barricade XL audio distorts before the battery indicator reads empty

As the cell ages and internal resistance climbs, voltage sags faster under the amplifier's draw at mid-to-high volume. The battery indicator reads a resting voltage, not voltage under load — so the gauge still shows charge while the amplifier is already clipping. The result is audible distortion well before the speaker shuts down. A fresh cell with lower internal resistance holds voltage under the same load, eliminating the sag that causes the clipping.

Speaker won't wake from USB-C after sitting unused for weeks

If the Barricade XL sits discharged for an extended period, the cell voltage can drop below the minimum threshold the USB charging circuit will accept — typically under 2.5V for this cell chemistry. The charger sees the pack as a fault condition and refuses to initiate charge. To recover a deeply discharged cell, connect it to a USB source and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing the power button — the protection circuit needs a trickle current to bring the cell voltage back above the acceptance threshold before normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Barricade XL cuts out at high volume but works fine at low volume — is that the battery?

Yes, this is voltage sag. At high volume the amplifier pulls more current, and an aged or depleted cell can't hold the voltage rail steady under that combined amp and Bluetooth radio draw. The protection circuit reads the voltage dip as a low-cell event and shuts the speaker down before the indicator shows empty. A replacement cell with lower internal resistance will hold the voltage under the same load — test at full volume after fitting the new cell to confirm.

The Skullcandy Terrain charges to full but the playback time has dropped noticeably over several months — what causes that?

Capacity fade from shallow cycling. If the speaker is regularly topped off before dropping below 50%, the Li-ion cell never completes a full cycle, and the fuel gauge progressively miscalibrates while real capacity shrinks. This is a cell-level degradation issue, not a charger or firmware fault. Run the speaker fully down below 20% once a month after fitting the new cell to slow the same pattern from repeating.

The speaker housing gets noticeably warm during long outdoor sessions — should I be concerned about the battery?

Some warmth is normal — the amplifier generates heat, and the discharging Li-ion cell adds to that inside a fabric-covered enclosure with limited airflow. The concern is if the housing gets hot to the touch rather than warm, which can indicate the cell is under excessive load or the thermal path is blocked. Keep the speaker out of direct sunlight during use and avoid covering the housing with fabric or placing it on soft surfaces that block the vents — this keeps the combined amplifier and battery heat below the BMS thermal cutoff threshold.
