Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Teufel MOTIV GO VOICE — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (INR18650-2S2P)
This is a 7.4V 5200mAh (38.48Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Teufel MOTIV GO VOICE portable Bluetooth speaker. It slots into the same position as the original pack and connects to the same BMS circuitry. If your MOTIV GO VOICE powers off earlier than it used to or stops charging fully, this is the direct swap.
- MOTIV GO VOICE fit: The 2S2P cell arrangement — two 18650 cells in series, two in parallel — matches the original voltage rail and pack dimensions (134.10 × 37.80 × 19.00mm). The BMS handshake on this model expects exactly 7.4V nominal; a different voltage pack will cause the charge controller to reject the pack entirely.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled the pack through full charge and discharge on the MOTIV GO VOICE's own charge controller. The BMS handled cell balancing correctly across both parallel pairs and tripped the expected low-voltage cutoff without allowing the cells to drop below safe floor voltage.
- Fuel gauge reset after swap: After fitting this battery, run the speaker down to below 20% before recharging fully — at least once in the first week. The MOTIV GO VOICE calibrates its fuel gauge against a full discharge cycle. Skipping this leaves the indicator reading several percentage points off, which causes unexpected shutdowns at what looks like 15–20% remaining.
Why the MOTIV GO VOICE shuts off mid-track at high volume
At maximum volume, the amplifier draws a large current spike on every bass transient. A degraded or partially discharged pack sags under that combined amp-plus-radio draw, dropping below the BMS's cutoff threshold for a fraction of a second. The protection circuit reads that as an unsafe low-voltage event and cuts power. A fresh pack with full capacity holds the voltage rail steady through those spikes. If shutdowns only happen at high volume and not at moderate levels, the pack is the cause — not the amplifier.
Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty
This happens when the cells have aged enough that internal resistance is high but the fuel gauge still reads 25–30% remaining. Under amplifier load, the voltage sags below the clean-audio threshold before the indicator catches up. The amplifier clips because the supply voltage is insufficient, producing audible distortion that sounds like a faulty speaker driver. Check the resting voltage of the pack: if it reads below 7.0V at what the indicator shows as 20–25%, the cells are degraded and the pack needs replacing.

Frequently Asked Questions
My MOTIV GO VOICE charges fine but the battery seems to drain faster every few months — what causes that?
Shallow cycling is the main cause. If the speaker is topped off from 60–70% every day without letting it drop below 20%, the Li-ion cells lose capacity through a process called lithium plating and electrolyte degradation at the high state-of-charge. The fuel gauge also drifts, so the speaker shuts down earlier than the indicator suggests. Let the pack discharge to below 20% at least once a month before a full recharge to slow that fade.
The USB-C port on the MOTIV GO VOICE won't start charging after the speaker sat unused for two months — how do I fix it?
When a Li-ion pack discharges below roughly 2.5V per cell through self-discharge during storage, the BMS locks out normal USB-C PD negotiation because the cell voltage is below the minimum acceptance threshold for the charge controller. Plug it into a 5V USB-A charger using a USB-A to USB-C cable rather than a USB-C PD source — the lower-current trickle from USB-A can sometimes wake the BMS and bring the cells back up to negotiation voltage. If the LED shows no response after 30 minutes at 5V, the cells have self-discharged past recovery and the pack needs replacing.
The MOTIV GO VOICE speaker housing gets noticeably warm during long listening sessions — is that the battery or the amplifier?
Both contribute, but in a fabric-enclosed portable speaker the heat has nowhere to go. The amplifier generates heat under sustained output and the battery generates heat through its own internal resistance during discharge — both sources combine inside the same enclosed space. That elevated temperature accelerates capacity fade on the Li-ion cells over time. To reduce it, avoid placing the speaker on soft surfaces like cushions or blankets that block the passive vents; a hard flat surface keeps the housing cooler and extends cell life.
