Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bissell ICONpet 2291 Series — 18.5V Li-ion Replacement Battery (69-0083-006)
This 18.5V Li-ion battery replaces part number 69-0083-006 in the Bissell ICONpet 2291, 2291A, 2291+, and P488 cordless stick vacuums. Capacity is 5000mAh (92.5Wh), matching the original cell specification. It fits the same connector and communicates with the same BMS as the factory pack.
- ICONpet 2291 series compatibility: The 2291, 2291A, 2291+, and P488 all run the same 18.5V power rail and share an identical battery connector and BMS handshake protocol. One cell fits all variants without adaptation.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and discharge cycles on a 2291A unit. The BMS balanced cells correctly, thermal sensors responded normally, and the charger completed a full charge cycle without fault codes.
- Dock charging practice for the ICONpet: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock continuously. The ICONpet dock delivers a low-level trickle current when the pack is full, and sustained trickle charging accelerates capacity fade in Li-ion cells. Charge to full, then remove the vacuum from the dock.
Cordless vacuum losing suction before the battery indicator reaches low
This happens when the motor draws more current than the BMS expects under a restricted airflow condition. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to work harder, spiking current draw and causing voltage to sag at the pack before the indicator registers a low state. The vacuum loses suction because available voltage drops below the motor's operating threshold, not because the cell is depleted. Clean or replace the filter and confirm pack voltage reads at least 18V under load before assuming the battery is at fault.
Motor cuts out mid-use and recovers after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a failed battery. When sustained suction blockage — mat fibres, dense pet hair, or a clogged post-motor filter — forces continuous high current draw, the BMS cuts output to protect the cells. The pack resets automatically once temperature and current normalise, typically within a few seconds. Clear the blockage, check both the pre-motor and post-motor filters, then restart. If the trip repeats on a clear airpath, check resting pack voltage; anything below 17.5V indicates a cell that needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions
My ICONpet 2291 suction feels weak from the start of a new session — not just at the end. Is that a battery issue?
Weak suction from the start of a session usually points to a restricted filter rather than a low battery. A blocked filter forces the motor to draw above its rated current immediately, causing voltage sag at the pack even when cells are fully charged. Remove and clean both the pre-motor foam filter and the post-motor exhaust filter, then retest. If suction recovers after cleaning, the battery was fine — the filter was the load problem.
My replacement battery fades noticeably after only a few weeks of normal use. What causes that?
Continuous dock charging is the most common cause of early capacity fade in the ICONpet. The dock keeps a small trickle charge running through the Li-ion cells even when the pack is at 100%, and sustained trickle current degrades cell chemistry faster than regular charge cycles do. Remove the vacuum from the dock once charging is complete rather than leaving it mounted. If the pack is already faded, run two full discharge-to-charge cycles to let the BMS recalibrate its state-of-charge reading.
The ICONpet 2291 cuts out for a few seconds then comes back on by itself — what is actually happening?
The BMS is tripping on an overcurrent event and then auto-resetting once current drops back inside limits. This happens when the motor sustains a high draw for several seconds — typically caused by dense pet hair forming a partial blockage in the nozzle or a clogged filter restricting airflow. The fix is to clear the blockage and inspect both filters. If the cutout repeats on a fully clear airpath, measure resting pack voltage; a healthy pack should read at or above 18.5V at full charge.
