This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is restricted — blocked nozzle, clogged filter, or hair wrapped around the brush roll — the motor spikes current draw sharply. The BMS shuts the circuit, which reads to the user as a sudden cutoff. After a short pause, the BMS resets and power returns. Fix the blockage, confirm the filter is clean, then resume use. If the trip keeps recurring on an unblocked machine, check that the pack is fully charged to 14.4V before each session.

Weak suction from the first minute usually points to a blocked filter, not the battery. A restricted filter forces the motor to draw above its rated current, and the BMS drops output voltage to compensate — that voltage sag is what kills suction early. Remove and clean the filter, then run the vacuum again. If suction recovers, the battery is fine.

The VS600 motor keeps cutting out for a few seconds and then comes back on — what is causing that?

That cut-and-recover pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip. It happens when the motor spikes current sharply — usually because the nozzle, brush roll, or filter is partially blocked. The BMS shuts down to protect the cell, then resets after a brief pause. Clear any blockage, confirm the filter is clean, and the tripping should stop.

My replacement battery fades faster than the original did after just a few months — what went wrong?

Continuous dock charging is the most common cause of early capacity fade in Ni-MH vacuum batteries. Leaving the VS600 on the dock between every use keeps the cells under a constant low-level charge, which degrades capacity faster than a charge-and-remove routine. Going forward, charge the pack to full and take it off the dock. If the fade is already significant, run two full discharge-and-recharge cycles to see whether the cells partially recover.
