Fits ACE Caracas and Caracas 2 models; replaces OEM part N4L120J lithium-ion cell.
3.7V at 1700mAh delivers stable voltage during calls, messaging, and app use on this platform.
Connector aligns vertically into the battery slot with a single locking tab on the left side.
We bench-tested this cell in a Caracas 2 unit; BMS accepted the new pack on first insertion without fault codes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ACE Caracas / Caracas 2 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (N4L120J)

This is a 3.7V, 1700mAh Li-ion cell built to fit the ACE Caracas and Caracas 2 smartphones. It replaces OEM part number N4L120J directly. If your original battery no longer holds charge or the phone shuts down unexpectedly, this cell restores full operation.

  • Caracas and Caracas 2 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — that is why one cell covers both. The 66.20 × 44.00 × 5.10mm footprint fits the housing without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Caracas platform. The BMS handshake completed correctly, charge current stepped down at the expected voltage threshold, and the protection circuit tripped cleanly on a simulated over-discharge condition.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC build an accurate discharge curve for the new cell before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state — otherwise percentage readings will drift.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Caracas after a cell swap

A new cell has a steeper voltage-drop curve than the aged cell the fuel gauge IC was trained on. When modem activity or screen brightness spikes current draw, the cell voltage dips sharply — the phone interprets this as a critical low-voltage event and shuts down, even though the displayed percentage still reads above zero. One full discharge-to-zero and charge-to-100% cycle lets the coulomb counter re-anchor its curve to the new cell. After that cycle, the shutdowns stop.

ACE Caracas not powering on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage. If the N4L120J cell sat uninstalled for several months, its resting voltage may have dropped below 2.5V — the threshold at which the BMS locks out to prevent cell damage. The phone will not respond to the power button in this state. Connect the phone to a wall charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing anything; the charge IC will trickle current into the cell until the BMS unlocks, at which point normal charging resumes. If the charge indicator does not appear after 30 minutes, check that the charger is delivering at least 5V 1A.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my ACE Caracas show the wrong battery percentage after fitting the new N4L120J cell?

The fuel gauge IC stores a discharge curve calibrated to your old, degraded cell. When you install a new cell with a different internal resistance and capacity profile, the IC's model no longer matches reality — so it reports inaccurate percentages. Run one full discharge from 100% down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the phone. That single cycle gives the coulomb counter enough data to recalibrate to the new cell.

Fast charging stopped working on my Caracas the first time I charged the replacement battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is broken. On the first charge cycle, the BMS on the new cell is in a conservative state and may not negotiate the higher current the charger requests. The charge IC defaults to standard 5V current until it completes one full cycle and confirms the cell is stable. Charge once at standard speed to 100%, then fast charging should be accepted on the next session. If fast charging still does not appear after two full cycles, check that the cable supports the required current — a cable rated below 3A will prevent fast-charge negotiation regardless of the battery.

The ACE Caracas feels warm near the battery during the first few charges after I replaced the cell — should I be concerned?

Mild warmth on the first one or two charges is normal. A new cell has higher internal impedance than a cell that has been through several cycles, and the charge IC has not yet adapted its current profile to the cell's characteristics. As impedance drops over the first few cycles, heat during charging reduces. If the phone becomes hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold, or if warmth continues beyond the third charge cycle, remove the phone from the charger and let it cool — then check that the charge voltage at the cable is not exceeding 5.2V.
