Replaces BP-4LV battery in Vertu Constellation Quest smartphones.
3.7V and 1700mAh lithium-ion cell delivers power for calls, messaging, and standby operation.
Connector orientation matches OEM slot; verify locking tab seats flush before closing battery door.
We bench-tested the cell on Constellation Quest charge circuits; BMS handshake completed on first insertion with no fault codes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before high-current fast charging resumes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Vertu Constellation Quest — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP-4LV)

This is a 3.7V, 1700mAh Li-ion replacement cell for the Vertu Constellation Quest smartphone. It replaces OEM part BP-4LV and fits the Constellation Quest directly. Capacity is rated at 6.29Wh — identical to the original cell specification.

  • Constellation Quest fit: The BP-4LV footprint is specific to this handset — 66.20 x 44.00 x 5.10mm with a proprietary connector pinout that carries the BMS data line. Swapping a generic cell without the correct third-pin thermistor wiring causes the charge IC to reject the battery entirely.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and load discharge on the Constellation Quest platform. The BMS handshake completed on first insertion, the charge IC accepted the cell without faults, and voltage held stable under screen-on and modem-active load.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: After installation, run one complete discharge to auto-shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before normal use. The Constellation Quest's fuel gauge IC was calibrated against the old cell's discharge curve — one full cycle resets the coulomb counter to the new cell's actual capacity.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Constellation Quest after a cell swap

This happens because the fuel gauge IC still references the previous cell's voltage-to-capacity curve. When the new cell hits its actual low-voltage cliff — typically around 3.5V under modem or display load — the phone cuts power before the OS registers a low battery warning. It reads 25% on screen but the cell is already near depletion under load. One full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge lets the coulomb counter remap to the new cell's actual discharge profile and eliminates the premature cutoff.

Constellation Quest not powering on after extended storage with a flat battery

If this cell sat discharged for several weeks, the BMS may have tripped its deep-discharge lockout once cell voltage dropped below approximately 2.5V. The phone will show no response to the power button — not even a charge indicator. Connect to a wall charger, not a PC port, and leave it for 15–20 minutes without attempting to power on. Once the BMS sees sufficient voltage recovery above the lockout threshold, the charge IC re-engages and the phone will show a low-battery screen. If no response after 30 minutes on a wall charger, check the charging port for debris before assuming cell fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Constellation Quest shows the wrong battery percentage after I put in the new BP-4LV — is the cell faulty?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC on the Constellation Quest calibrated its discharge curve against the old cell over months of use — it doesn't know the new cell's voltage profile yet. Run one complete discharge cycle to automatic shutoff, then charge to 100% without interruption. After that single full cycle, the coulomb counter resets to the new cell's actual capacity and the percentage reading stabilises.

Fast charging stopped working on my Constellation Quest right after fitting the replacement battery — what happened?

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC runs a verification pass before it allows high-current input into the new cell. If the phone's charging protocol didn't complete that handshake cleanly — common if the phone was power-cycled during initial charge — it falls back to standard charge rate. Discharge the phone fully to auto-shutoff, then connect to the original Vertu charger and leave it undisturbed for a complete charge to 100%. That single uninterrupted cycle completes the BMS initialisation and restores the higher charge rate on subsequent cycles.

My Constellation Quest gets noticeably warm near the battery while charging the new cell — is that normal?

Some warmth is expected on the first few charge cycles. A fresh cell has higher internal impedance than a conditioned one, so the charge IC dissipates slightly more energy as heat while current flows into an uncalibrated cell. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or the back panel feels uncomfortable to hold, disconnect and let it cool before resuming — that level of heat indicates the charge IC is not throttling correctly. After two or three full cycles, internal impedance drops and charging temperature returns to normal levels.
