Fits Acer N20 and N20w PDAs; replaces OEM part 865Y032 and BT-12416.
3.7V, 1300mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers 4.81Wh for scheduling, email, and application runtime on Pocket PC devices.
Connector and locking tab match the N20 battery slot; physical orientation aligns with the factory cell.
Bench testing showed normal BMS ramp on first insertion; voltage ramped steady through initial charge cycles without fault cutoff.
Sync all data to a host computer before removing the old battery—Acer PDAs power RAM with the main cell, risking open file loss on full power removal.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Acer N20 / N20w — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (865Y032)

This 3.7V, 1300mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the original cell in the Acer N20 and N20w Pocket PC. It fits both variants of the N20 line and matches the OEM voltage and capacity specification. The part numbers 865Y032 and BT-12416 cross-reference to this cell.

  • N20 and N20w fit: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, voltage rail, and connector pinout, so one cell covers both variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the N20 platform and confirmed the BMS accepted full charge without triggering a protection cutoff under normal PDA load.
  • Pre-swap sync: The N20 stores open application state and unsaved data in RAM powered directly by the main battery. Sync all data to your host computer before removing the old cell — RAM contents are lost the moment power drops.

Why the N20 fails to boot after a battery swap

The N20 boot sequence checks for a minimum voltage threshold before the processor initialises. A new cell shipped in storage state may sit below that threshold, which causes the device to appear dead even though the hardware is functional. Connecting to a charger for at least 30 minutes before pressing the power button is enough to bring the cell above the boot threshold. Do not interpret a blank screen immediately after swap as a faulty battery.

Wireless sync dropping or slowing after a battery replacement

The N20's wireless radio is voltage-sensitive and draws a short current spike when transmitting. If the battery is not fully charged, that spike can pull cell voltage low enough to trigger the BMS under-voltage protection, causing the radio to drop mid-session. Charge the battery to full — approximately 4.2V at the cell — before attempting ActiveSync or Bluetooth pairing. A partial charge that looks sufficient for standby use often isn't enough to sustain the radio under transmission load.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Acer N20 lost all my contacts and calendar entries after I swapped the battery — what happened?

The N20 stores contacts, calendar data, and open application state in SRAM, which is powered directly by the main battery. The moment the old cell was removed, that RAM lost power and its contents were erased. This is expected behaviour for the platform, not a fault with the replacement cell. Before any future battery swap, perform a full ActiveSync to your host computer so all data is written to persistent storage first.

The N20 screen stays completely blank after fitting the new battery — is the cell dead?

The N20 requires a minimum cell voltage to complete its boot sequence, and a battery shipped in storage state is often below that threshold. Connect the device to its charger for at least 30 minutes before pressing the power button. If the screen still shows nothing after a full charge cycle, hold the reset pin on the base of the unit for 10 seconds to clear any hung boot state. The cell itself is not faulty — the device simply needs enough voltage to initialise the processor.

Battery charge is draining far faster when I use the N20 for wireless sync and data entry compared to just reading documents — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong — this is a load difference, not a fault. The wireless radio and backlit touchscreen together draw significantly more current than passive document reading, so the same 1300mAh capacity depletes noticeably faster under that combined load. The rated capacity reflects total stored energy, not a fixed usage pattern. Reduce sync frequency or lower screen brightness during heavy data-entry sessions to extend the time between charges.
