Fits AEG Fono 3 smartphone; replaces BP-MPB16, DR6-2009, DR11-2009 battery.
3.7V, 1200mAh lithium-ion cell powers this single-SIM device through normal daily use.
Connector slides flat into the battery slot; polarity marked on both cell and housing.
We charged this cell three times on a standard 500mA smartphone charger; BMS initialized normally.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging runs.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AEG Fono 3 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP-MPB16)

This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion cell built to replace the original BP-MPB16 battery in the AEG Fono 3 smartphone. It matches the OEM voltage, connector, and physical dimensions (53.18 × 34.00 × 6.80mm). Fit the battery when the original no longer holds charge or the phone shuts down unexpectedly.

  • Fono 3 fit confirmation: The BP-MPB16 is specific to the AEG Fono 3 platform. The connector pinout and BMS handshake match the phone's charge IC, so the fuel gauge and thermal monitoring functions stay active after the swap.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full charge and discharge on test equipment. The BMS held cutoff voltage correctly at both ends and accepted the charge IC's CC/CV profile without dropping into fault mode.
  • First-cycle calibration on the Fono 3: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state.

Why the Fono 3 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The fuel gauge IC in the Fono 3 stores a learned discharge curve from the old cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches actual cell behaviour. The phone reads voltage and translates it to a percentage using stale data, so the number on screen drifts. One full discharge to auto-shutdown followed by a full charge resets the coulomb counter and aligns the gauge to the new cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under the load of the modem or screen backlight — a voltage cliff the fuel gauge IC did not predict. The phone's reported percentage still looks comfortable, but the actual cell voltage has already hit the BMS cutoff threshold. The fix is to let the phone run through two or three full discharge-charge cycles so the fuel gauge recalibrates. After calibration the percentage readout tracks the real voltage cliff and the phone shuts down near 5% instead of 25%.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AEG Fono 3 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for months — is the cell dead?

The BMS locks out when cell voltage drops below roughly 2.5V during extended storage. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for 30 to 60 minutes without attempting to power on. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold, after which the phone will boot normally.

Fast charging stopped working on my Fono 3 right after fitting this battery — was it working before?

On the first charge cycle after a cell swap, some charge ICs run a qualification handshake against the new BMS. If the handshake times out, the phone falls back to standard 5V charging until the cycle completes. Charge the phone fully once on standard charge, then reboot. Fast charge protocol re-negotiates correctly on the second cycle for most Fono 3 units.

The battery percentage on my Fono 3 keeps jumping around — sometimes it gains 10% just sitting on the desk — what's happening?

The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating against the new cell's impedance and discharge profile. It reads terminal voltage at rest and under load, and the numbers bounce until it has enough data points to build an accurate curve. Run two or three full discharge-charge cycles without interrupting them mid-way. The percentage stabilises once the coulomb counter has a complete discharge dataset from the new cell.
