Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alcatel One Touch POP 2 5.0 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (TLp025A1)
This 3.8V, 2500mAh (9.5Wh) lithium-polymer cell replaces the original TLp025A1 battery in the Alcatel One Touch POP 2 5.0 smartphone. It fits OT-7043, OT-7043A, and OT-7043Y variants along with four additional model numbers in the OT-7043 line. Replace this battery when the original no longer holds a charge, shuts down unexpectedly, or fails to power the device at all.
- OT-7043 series compatibility: Every OT-7043 variant shares the same 3.8V power rail, battery bay dimensions, and connector pinout. The BMS handshake protocol is consistent across the line, so one cell covers the full range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the OT-7043 platform. The BMS accepted the cell cleanly, charge termination triggered correctly at 4.35V, and protection cutoffs for overcurrent and over-temperature fired within spec.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: On first use, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This gives the fuel gauge IC one full reference cycle against the new cell's discharge curve before fast-charge current is applied to an uncalibrated cell.
Why the POP 2 5.0 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The OT-7043 uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that builds its percentage model against the original cell's charge and discharge history. When a new cell goes in, that learned curve no longer matches the actual capacity. The gauge reports stale data until it completes at least one full reference cycle. Run the phone from 100% down to auto-shutdown, then charge straight to full without interruption — one cycle is usually enough for the gauge to re-anchor its model to the new cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the replacement cell
This happens when the modem or display draws a high-current burst and the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge predicted — the BMS sees the voltage cliff and cuts power before the percentage display catches up. It is common on the first few cycles of a new cell before the gauge recalibrates. The BMS protection threshold on this cell sits at approximately 3.0V per cell under load. After two to three full discharge-charge cycles the gauge tracks the new cell's voltage curve more accurately and the premature shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
The POP 2 5.0 won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is it dead?
Likely not dead — it's a BMS lockout. If the cell discharged below 2.5V during storage, the battery management system blocks output to protect the cell from damage. Plug the phone into a wall charger (not a PC USB port) and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell to bring voltage above the BMS re-enable threshold before the phone will respond.
Fast charging stopped working the first time I charged after fitting this battery — was it doing that before?
Yes, this is expected on the first cycle. The phone's charge IC runs a handshake with the new BMS to confirm cell chemistry and capacity before it allows high-current charge rates. On the first cycle it defaults to a lower current until that negotiation completes. Charge to 100% and let the phone sit on the charger for five minutes after it reports full — on the next charge session the fast-charge protocol should re-engage normally.
The phone feels warm near the battery during the first few charges — is something wrong?
A new high-impedance cell generates more heat during charging than a broken-in one. The internal resistance of a fresh lithium-polymer cell is slightly higher before the first few cycles, and the charge IC pushes current against that resistance. If the warmth is mild and fades after two or three charge cycles, that is normal. If the back of the phone becomes hot to the touch or charging stops and restarts repeatedly, disconnect the charger and check that the battery connector is seated flat — a partially seated connector raises contact resistance and worsens heating.
