Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alcatel One Touch POP S3 / OT-5050 Series — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (TLp020A2)
This is a 3.8V, 2100mAh Li-ion battery for the Alcatel One Touch POP S3 and OT-5050 series smartphones. It replaces OEM part numbers TLp020A2 and TLi020A1. It fits the OT-5050, OT-5050A, OT-5050Y, and related variants where the original cell has degraded or failed.
- OT-5050 series fit: The OT-5050, OT-5050A, and OT-5050Y share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake. All run off the same 3.8V nominal rail, so one cell covers the full variant range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the OT-5050 platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell without fault codes, held charge cutoff at 4.2V, and triggered low-voltage protection at the correct threshold.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: After fitting this battery, run one complete discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before normal use. The phone's fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — this full cycle resets the coulomb counter against the new cell so percentage readings stay accurate.
Why the OT-5050 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The OT-5050 uses a fuel gauge IC that tracks charge by counting coulombs against a learned discharge curve from the original cell. When you swap in a new cell, the IC has no reference data for its actual voltage-to-capacity curve. It maps voltage readings against the old curve, so the percentage shown on screen can be several points off — often reading high early in the discharge and then dropping sharply. One full discharge-charge cycle gives the fuel gauge IC enough data to recalibrate. After that cycle, percentage accuracy returns to normal.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the replacement cell
This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't completed recalibration and the cell voltage drops below the modem's minimum operating voltage under load — even though the displayed percentage still looks safe. The modem and screen together draw enough current to cause a voltage sag that triggers the protection circuit, cutting power instantly. It's not a faulty cell — it's a calibration gap. Run one full discharge to auto-shutdown, recharge to 100%, and the coulomb counter will reset. After that cycle, the shutdown threshold and displayed percentage will align correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions
The phone won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in the drawer for a few months — is it dead?
Most likely the cell dropped below 2.5V during storage, which triggers BMS lockout to prevent damage. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC needs a trickle current phase to bring the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold before the phone will boot. If the battery icon appears on screen during that window, the cell is recovering normally.
Fast charging stopped working after I put the new battery in — the phone just slow-charges now.
On the first cycle with a new cell, the charge IC defaults to a conservative constant-current profile while it measures the cell's internal impedance. Some OT-5050 units interpret this as the cell not accepting the higher charge rate and stay in slow-charge mode for that first full cycle. Charge the phone to 100% and let it complete a full discharge before the next charge. On the second cycle, the charge IC recalibrates its impedance reading and fast charging resumes at the normal rate.
The battery percentage jumps erratically — goes from 45% to 12% in minutes, then back up.
Erratic percentage jumps after a cell swap are caused by the fuel gauge IC misreading the new cell's voltage-to-capacity curve. The IC's stored discharge model doesn't match the new cell, so small voltage shifts get translated into large, sudden percentage swings. This is a calibration issue, not a faulty battery. Discharge the phone completely until it shuts itself off, then charge to 100% in one uninterrupted session — the coulomb counter resets against the actual cell curve and the readings stabilise.
