Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Explay 4GAME — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 2000mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Explay 4GAME handheld gaming console. It fits the 4GAME directly and restores power when the original cell has degraded or stopped holding a charge. Capacity is rated at 7.4Wh, matching the stock specification for this device.

  • Explay 4GAME fitment: The 4GAME uses a slim Li-ion cell measuring 70.05 × 59.95 × 4.31mm. The connector pinout and BMS communication line match what the 4GAME's charge IC expects — no adapter or modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench. The BMS held a stable cutoff voltage and the charge IC accepted the cell without triggering fault flags on the protection circuit.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: On first use after installation, disable fast charging if available and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle. This gives the fuel gauge IC time to map its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve before any high-current charging begins.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Explay 4GAME after a cell swap

This is a fuel gauge calibration problem, not a faulty cell. The 4GAME's fuel gauge IC was trained on the original cell's voltage-discharge curve. A new cell has a slightly different curve, so the IC misjudges the remaining capacity and cuts power before the cell is actually empty. One full discharge cycle — run the device until it shuts off automatically, then charge to 100% without interruption — forces the coulomb counter to re-anchor to the new cell. After that cycle, shutdowns at 20–30% should stop.

Explay 4GAME not powering on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage. If this battery was stored for an extended period before installation, its resting voltage may have dropped below 2.5V per cell — the threshold where the BMS engages a lockout to prevent damage. The device will show no response: no boot screen, no charging indicator. Connect the 4GAME to a charger and leave it undisturbed for 20–40 minutes; the charge IC applies a low trickle current to bring the cell back above the BMS unlock threshold, typically around 3.0V, at which point normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Explay 4GAME percentage is jumping around erratically after I put in the new battery — is the cell faulty?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The 4GAME's fuel gauge IC is recalibrating its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve, which it hasn't seen before. Erratic percentage readings are the normal symptom of that process on the first one or two cycles. Run one complete discharge — play until the device shuts off on its own — then charge uninterrupted to 100%, and the percentage readout should stabilise.

The 4GAME feels warm near the battery compartment while charging the new cell — should I be concerned?

A new Li-ion cell typically has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, which means the charge IC works slightly harder in the first few cycles and generates a little more heat. Warmth — not hot — during charging on the first few cycles is normal for this reason. If the device becomes too hot to hold comfortably, disconnect and let it cool. By the third or fourth full charge cycle, impedance drops and the warmth should reduce noticeably.

After I installed the replacement battery, the Explay 4GAME won't charge past about 80% — what's wrong?

This is usually the fuel gauge IC applying a conservative charge ceiling because it hasn't mapped the new cell's full capacity yet. It interprets 80% on the old curve as 100% on the uncalibrated new cell and stops the charge there. Complete one full uninterrupted charge to the point where the charging indicator shows full, then discharge the device completely until it powers off on its own. After that single calibration cycle, the charge IC should accept charge to the correct 100% endpoint.
