The OT-4030 uses a fuel gauge IC that builds its percentage model from the discharge curve of the cell it learned on — typically the original factory cell. The gauge reports percentages based on outdated reference data, so the number on screen can be off by 10–20%. One full uninterrupted discharge-to-shutdown followed by a full charge resets the coulomb counter and forces the IC to re-learn the new cell's curve.
