Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alcatel TIM XL 2018 / A3A XL 4G — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (TLp030JC)
This is a 3.85V, 2950mAh Li-Polymer battery for the Alcatel TIM XL 2018, A3A XL 4G, and OT-5099T, among other compatible models. It replaces OEM part TLp030JC or CAC3000034CC. Use the Capacity field value of 11.36Wh as your reference — that is what this cell delivers under real load.
- Cross-model fit — TIM XL 2018, A3A XL 4G, OT-5099T and related variants: These models share the same battery footprint, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The 76.70 × 66.20 × 3.50mm cell dimensions and 3.85V nominal rail are consistent across all listed variants, so one SKU covers the full range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a compatible unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, charge termination triggered correctly at 4.35V, and low-voltage cutoff engaged at the expected threshold under screen-on load.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging for the first complete discharge-charge cycle. The fuel gauge IC was calibrated to your original cell's discharge curve. One slow cycle lets it remap to the new cell before fast charge current is applied to an uncalibrated state.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the TIM XL 2018 after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC still holds the discharge curve of the original, degraded cell. When the new cell's actual voltage under modem or screen load drops faster than the IC expects, the system reads a safe percentage right up until the voltage cliff hits. The phone cuts off because the hardware voltage floor is reached before the software counter reaches zero. One full slow discharge-charge cycle resets the coulomb counter and maps the new cell curve correctly.
USB charging not recognised on first plug-in after replacement
A freshly installed Li-Polymer cell with no charge history can sit below the USB detection threshold if it discharged in storage. The charge IC on this platform requires the cell to be above approximately 3.0V before it negotiates a USB-PD or standard 5V contract. If the phone shows nothing when plugged in, leave the cable connected for 15–20 minutes — the IC trickle-charges the cell in recovery mode before switching to normal charging. If the cell was stored at or near 0% for an extended period, start with a 5V/1A wall adapter rather than a fast charger to avoid tripping BMS lockout.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Alcatel TIM XL 2018 jumps from 35% to 5% and shuts off — is the new battery faulty?
Almost always no. The fuel gauge IC calibrated itself to your old cell's discharge curve, and it takes one full cycle to remap to the new cell. Run the phone down to automatic shutdown, then charge it to 100% on a standard charger without fast charging. After that single cycle, the percentage readings stabilise because the coulomb counter now tracks the actual discharge curve of the new cell.
The phone feels warm near the battery during the first few charges after fitting the replacement — should I stop charging?
Some warmth is expected on the first two or three charges. A new Li-Polymer cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, and the charge IC pushes current into that higher resistance, generating more heat than you'd see later. If the back stays warm but not hot, continue charging normally. If the device becomes too hot to hold comfortably, unplug and let it cool to room temperature, then resume on a 5V/1A adapter rather than a fast charger until the cell has completed two full cycles.
Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery on my A3A XL 4G — the phone only charges slowly now.
The USB-PD or proprietary fast charge protocol requires BMS handshake confirmation before the charge IC allows high current. On the first cycle after a cell swap, the BMS has no charge history and some implementations default to standard 5V/1A until one full cycle completes. Complete one full slow charge to 100%, then disconnect and let the phone run down to shutdown naturally. Plug in again — fast charging should re-engage at that point as the BMS has now logged a complete cycle.
