Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

American DJ WiFLY Par QA5 — 22.2V Li-ion Replacement Battery (Z-WIB225)
This is a 22.2V, 7800mAh (173.16Wh) lithium-ion battery for the American DJ WiFLY Par QA5 wireless LED par fixture. It fits the QA5 directly and replaces OEM part numbers Z-WIB225 and 060225. If your fixture is dimming early, stepping down output unexpectedly, or refusing to power on after storage, this cell pack addresses those failure points.
- WiFLY Par QA5 fit: The QA5 uses a 22.2V (6S) cell configuration to feed its onboard LED driver and wireless DMX receiver simultaneously. Both loads draw from the same pack, so the BMS must handle combined current without tripping on startup spikes from the wireless module initialising alongside the LED array.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge-discharge cycles on the QA5 platform. The BMS held within the fixture's acceptance thresholds at initialisation, and the cell voltage stayed stable under constant-current LED driver load without sagging into premature low-battery cutoff.
- Storage charge for QA5 batteries: Store this pack at approximately 50% charge if the fixture will sit unused for more than two weeks. Parking a 7800mAh high-capacity Li-ion cell at full charge in a warm flight case accelerates capacity fade faster than regular cycling does.
Why the WiFLY Par QA5 dims before the battery indicator hits low
The QA5's LED driver operates in constant-current mode, which means it pulls more voltage as the cells begin to sag under load. Older or degraded cells can't hold the 22.2V rail steady at high output, so the driver steps the fixture down before the battery indicator registers a low reading. The indicator reads resting cell voltage, not load voltage — those two figures diverge as a pack ages. A fresh cell pack with healthy internal resistance closes that gap and restores full output for the expected duration of a set or shoot.
Battery not accepted by the QA5 after sitting in storage
If the QA5 refuses to power on after a pack has been in storage, the individual cell voltage has likely dropped below the fixture's BMS acceptance threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell on a 6S pack. The fixture's protection circuit reads the pack as faulty rather than flat and blocks charging. To recover it, use a Li-ion charger with a recovery or trickle mode to bring each cell above the 3.0V floor, then reconnect to the QA5. If cells won't hold above 3.0V after a recovery attempt, the pack needs replacement rather than further cycling.

Frequently Asked Questions
The QA5 shows an error code immediately after I install the new battery — what's causing it?
This is a ballast firmware battery-check behaviour, not a fault with the pack itself. The QA5's driver board verifies cell voltage at startup and can flag an error if the pack hasn't been charged to a recognised threshold before first install. Charge the battery fully in the fixture or with a compatible external charger, then power-cycle the fixture with the battery seated. The error clears once the driver board reads a valid voltage at startup.
My QA5 runs for a short time at full output — is the cell capacity actually 7800mAh?
The 7800mAh rating is measured at a controlled discharge rate, but the QA5 at maximum brightness draws proportionally more current through the LED driver and wireless module simultaneously. Higher draw rates reduce usable capacity below the rated figure — this is standard Li-ion behaviour, not a defective pack. To extend operation at events, dim the fixture to 70–80% output rather than running at 100%, which brings the draw rate closer to the rated discharge condition.
The fixture worked fine last week but now the battery drains noticeably faster at the same output level — what happened?
Rapid capacity loss between uses usually points to shallow-cycle degradation — repeatedly discharging the pack only 10–20% and recharging to full compresses the active range of the cells. Li-ion cells in high-capacity packs like the Z-WIB225 need occasional full discharge and recharge cycles to maintain calibrated capacity. Run the fixture at moderate output until it triggers low-battery cutoff, then charge it fully before the next use. If capacity still doesn't recover after two full cycles, the cells have faded and replacement is the correct step.
