Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

American DJ Element — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (Z-ELE)
This is an 11.1V 7800mAh lithium-ion battery for the American DJ Element LED wash light. It fits the Element fixture directly, restoring full battery capacity for stage, mobile DJ, and event production use. Capacity is drawn from the product specification — 86.58Wh total energy.
- American DJ Element platform: The Element uses an 11.1V three-cell Li-ion pack with a specific BMS handshake that communicates state-of-charge to the fixture's onboard LED driver. Swapping to a pack with a mismatched BMS profile causes the driver to reject the battery or report a fault at startup.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the Element's LED driver under full-output constant-current draw. The BMS held the 11.1V nominal rail without premature cutoff, and cell balancing remained within 20mV across all three cells after five full discharge cycles.
- Storage charge for idle fixtures: If the Element will sit unused for more than two weeks, leave this battery at approximately 50% charge. Storing a high-capacity 7800mAh Li-ion cell at full charge in a warm equipment case accelerates capacity fade noticeably faster than storing at half-state.
Why the Element dims in steps before the low-battery indicator triggers
The Element's LED driver operates in constant-current mode, which means it actively compensates for voltage sag — up to a point. When cell voltage drops under sustained high-output draw, the driver hits its regulation floor and steps the output down to protect the LEDs, even if the battery indicator hasn't flagged low yet. This happens because the indicator reads state-of-charge from the BMS, not from the instantaneous voltage under load. A healthy 7800mAh pack has enough headroom to push through these sag events without stepping down. A degraded or partially discharged pack cannot sustain the current demand, so the step-down triggers early.
Element shows a fault or won't accept the battery after an extended storage period
If a Li-ion pack sits discharged for several months, individual cells can drop below the ballast firmware's acceptance threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell, or 7.5V total for a 3S pack. The Element's onboard circuitry reads the pack voltage at startup and rejects anything below that floor as a safety measure. To recover the pack, use a Li-ion charger that supports a "recovery" or low-voltage pre-charge mode, which trickle-charges cells back above the acceptance threshold before switching to standard CC/CV charging. Once the pack reads above 9V resting voltage, reconnect it to the fixture and power cycle to clear the fault.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Element dims halfway through a show even though the battery indicator still shows two bars — what's happening?
The indicator reads state-of-charge from the BMS, not from live voltage under load. At high output, the LED driver demands sustained current that causes the cell voltage to sag below the driver's regulation floor, triggering a step-down before the BMS updates the indicator. A fresh 7800mAh pack at full charge has enough capacity buffer to avoid early sag. Check resting cell voltage before your next show — it should read at least 11.8V off the charger.
The Element throws a fault code immediately after I installed a replacement battery — did I get a bad pack?
This is almost always a firmware battery-check trip, not a defective cell. The Element's ballast reads pack voltage at power-on and flags a fault if the reading falls outside its expected window — which can happen if the replacement pack shipped partially discharged or sat in a warehouse. Remove the battery, charge it fully, then reinstall and power cycle the fixture. If the fault clears after a full charge, the pack is fine.
Short run time at maximum output — is the 7800mAh rating wrong?
The rating is accurate, but output level has a direct impact on draw. The Element's high-power LEDs pull proportionally more current at full brightness than at reduced output — energy consumed scales with power, not just time. Running the fixture at 100% output will exhaust the 86.58Wh pack significantly faster than running at 50–60%. To extend operating time between swaps, reduce output to the lowest level that meets your coverage needs, or carry a second charged pack and swap at halftime.
