Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Aputure AMARAN AL-528C / AL-528S / AL-528W / AL-F7 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 7.4V 2600mAh (19.24Wh) Li-ion battery fits the Aputure AMARAN AL-528C, AL-528S, AL-528W, and AL-F7 CRI 95+ LED light panels. These are continuous on-camera and on-rig lighting panels used in video production and photography. The battery slots directly into the panel's battery compartment and powers the LED array at the same voltage rail as the original cell.
- AL-528 and AL-F7 series compatibility: These panels share the same 7.4V battery format and connector pinout across the 528C, 528S, 528W, and AL-F7 CRI 95+ variants. The LED driver circuit in each model draws from the same voltage rail, so one battery type covers the full range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the AL-528 platform. The BMS held the correct cutoff voltage at the low end and accepted a full charge without tripping protection. LED output remained stable across the discharge curve with no flicker or shutdown at normal operating draw.
- First-use charge cycle for the AL-528 panels: Before your first shoot, run one complete charge cycle in the panel's OEM charger. The AL-528 series reads battery state through voltage sampling — a fresh cell not yet fully cycled can cause the indicator to read lower than actual charge level until the first full cycle completes.
AL-528C LED output dimming before the battery indicator hits zero
The AL-528C does not regulate LED brightness independently of supply voltage at the low end of the discharge curve. As cell voltage drops below approximately 7.0V, the LED driver gets less headroom and output visibly drops before the panel shuts off. This is a voltage-sag issue, not a defective cell. If you need consistent output for a colour-critical shot, swap the battery when the indicator hits the last bar rather than waiting for shutdown.
Battery percentage reading erratically on the AL-528 indicator
The AL-528 series uses a voltage-threshold method to estimate remaining charge — it maps discrete voltage levels to percentage bars rather than tracking coulombs. A replacement cell with a slightly different discharge curve can cause the indicator to jump between bars or stall at one level for a long period before dropping suddenly. This is normal during the first one to two charge cycles as the panel calibrates to the new cell's curve. Run two full charge and discharge cycles and the indicator should settle. If jumping continues past that point, check that the cell is seated fully and the contacts are clean — target a resting voltage of 8.4V after a full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
The AL-528C panel shut off mid-shoot even though the indicator showed charge remaining — what happened?
The AL-528C's BMS trips on undervoltage at the cell level, not the indicator level — the voltage-threshold indicator can show a bar remaining while the actual cell voltage has already dropped below the 6.8V cutoff under load. High-brightness settings and warm ambient temperatures accelerate this gap between indicated and actual state of charge. This is a known behaviour with voltage-sampled indicators on LED panels drawing sustained current. For consistent results, treat the last indicator bar as empty and swap the battery at that point.
The AL-528C turns on briefly then cuts out immediately after I installed the new battery — is the cell dead?
It is almost certainly not a dead cell. The AL-528 BMS will trip instantly if it sees a voltage spike or detects the cell as unrecognised on first connect, particularly if the contacts had oxidation or the cell was jostled during installation. Remove the battery, clean the contact pads with a dry cloth, reinsert firmly, and place it in the OEM charger for a full charge before powering the panel. If the panel still cuts out, check resting cell voltage with a multimeter — a healthy cell at full charge should read between 8.3V and 8.4V.
The AL-528W drains noticeably faster in cold outdoor conditions — is something wrong with the cell?
Nothing is wrong. Li-ion cells lose usable capacity in temperatures below 10°C because internal resistance rises and the BMS trips the low-voltage cutoff sooner under load. The AL-528W draws consistent current to maintain colour temperature, so the effect is more visible than on dimmable setups. Keep a spare battery in an inside jacket pocket between uses — a cell at body temperature will deliver significantly more output than one that has been sitting in a cold bag. Capacity returns to normal once the cell warms back to room temperature.
