Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Mitoya RL-480 3000-6000 K — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 7.4V, 2600mAh (19.24Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Mitoya RL-480 3000-6000 K camera. It slots into the same battery compartment as the original cell and powers the camera through photo and video shooting sessions. No OEM part number is published for this model.
- RL-480 3000-6000 K fit: The RL-480 series runs a single 7.4V Li-ion cell with a fixed connector footprint. This replacement matches that voltage rail and physical form factor — 70.80 × 38.50 × 23.20 mm — so it seats and locks without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the camera body using the OEM charger path. The BMS accepted the cell on first install, reported charge state correctly, and held voltage above the camera's low-battery cutoff through sustained video capture.
- First-install charge cycle on the RL-480: Some camera BMS systems need one full charge-from-empty cycle completed inside the camera body before the battery-remaining indicator maps correctly to the new cell's discharge curve. Run the first charge in-body, not in a third-party external charger, to get accurate percentage readings from the start.
Dead battery indicator on the RL-480 with a partially charged replacement cell
Camera battery indicators use voltage thresholds calibrated against the original cell's discharge curve. A new third-party cell can have a slightly different mid-discharge voltage profile, causing the camera to misread state of charge and flag low or dead battery while usable capacity remains. This is a display mapping issue, not a faulty cell. One full charge-to-discharge cycle in-body resets the threshold reference and the indicator corrects itself.
Battery percentage jumping erratically during shooting
Erratic percentage jumps happen when the camera's fuel-gauge algorithm samples voltage during high-draw moments — flash recharge, continuous autofocus bursts, or image stabilisation pulses — and misinterprets the transient sag as a genuine capacity drop. The displayed percentage then snaps back once load drops. This is not a cell defect. If jumps persist beyond the first charge cycle, confirm the cell is fully charged to 8.40V before shooting — a partially charged cell amplifies the sag signature and makes the reading worse.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Mitoya RL-480 shows "no battery" or won't recognise the replacement cell on first install — what's happening?
The RL-480's BMS runs an authentication check on new cells, and a fresh replacement sometimes fails that check until the camera has seen a full charge cycle with the cell seated. Insert the battery, connect the camera to its OEM charger, and let it charge to 100% in-body. Power the camera on after charging — in most cases the cell is accepted and reads correctly from that point.
My shot count on the RL-480 is noticeably lower than I expected from a 2600mAh cell — is the battery undersized?
Shot count specs are measured under controlled, minimal-load conditions. On the RL-480, running continuous video, frequent flash recycling, or optical image stabilisation stacks current draw well beyond that baseline. The 2600mAh capacity is correct per the product spec — the extra draw from those features reduces total shots per charge compared to rated figures. To maximise shot count, turn off stabilisation during static or tripod shooting and let the flash fully recycle between frames before firing again.
The flash on the RL-480 isn't recycling fully between shots — it fires but output is visibly weaker. Is this a battery issue?
Flash capacitor recharge pulls a sharp current spike after each firing. Near the end of a charge cycle, the cell's internal resistance rises and it can't deliver that spike fast enough, so the capacitor recharges only partially before the next shot. This is normal cell behaviour as voltage drops toward cutoff — it's not a fault. Charge the battery fully to 8.40V and the recycle time and output consistency will return to normal.
