Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Artfone C3 / CF241A / CS181 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 3.7V, 900mAh Li-ion cell for the Artfone C3, CF241A, CS181, and CS181A handsets. These are senior-focused mobile phones with large buttons and a straightforward calling interface. The battery slots into the same compartment as the original and uses the same connector pinout.
- C3 / CF241A / CS181 platform fit: All four models in this family share the same battery bay dimensions (53.00 × 34.00 × 4.30mm), the same 3.7V charge voltage, and the same three-pin connector. One replacement cell covers the full range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full discharge-charge sequence on the C3 handset. The onboard charge IC accepted the cell immediately, BMS protection trips functioned correctly at the low-voltage cutoff, and the fuel gauge initialised without errors.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting, let the phone discharge fully until it powers off on its own, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This gives the fuel gauge IC one complete reference cycle against the new cell's actual discharge curve before the percentage readout becomes trustworthy.
Why the C3 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The Artfone C3 uses a simple fuel gauge IC that tracks charge state by measuring voltage against a stored discharge curve calibrated to the original cell. A new cell has a slightly different internal resistance profile, so the IC's voltage-to-percentage mapping is off from the start. The displayed percentage can read 40% while the actual remaining capacity is much lower or higher. One full discharge-to-cutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 4.2V resets the reference and brings the readout back into line.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This is a voltage cliff — not a fault with the cell itself. Under the load of an active call, the modem draws a short burst of current that the uncalibrated gauge cannot predict. The cell voltage drops below the BMS protection threshold before the percentage counter catches up, and the phone cuts out. It typically happens before the first full recalibration cycle is complete. Run one complete discharge-charge cycle and the gauge learns the real voltage curve; the early shutdowns stop once it knows where the cliff actually sits.

Frequently Asked Questions
The phone powered off mid-call showing 25% — is the new battery faulty?
It is not a faulty cell. This is a voltage cliff: the modem draws a current burst during a call that briefly pulls cell voltage below the BMS cutoff, while the fuel gauge still reads 25% because it has not yet learned the new cell's discharge curve. It happens most on the first few cycles after a replacement. Run one full discharge to auto-off, then charge uninterrupted to 100%, and the gauge recalibrates — the mid-call shutdowns stop.
The battery percentage is jumping around erratically — it went from 60% to 80% without charging.
The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating against the new cell. The original cell's discharge curve is stored in the gauge's memory; the replacement cell has a different internal resistance, so voltage readings translate to wrong percentages until the IC builds a new reference map. Erratic jumping is normal for the first two to three cycles. Let the phone discharge fully until it shuts itself off, then charge to 100% without interruption — percentage stability returns after that cycle.
Phone won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before fitting.
A Li-ion cell that sits uncharged for an extended period can drop below 2.5V per cell, which triggers a hard BMS lockout to prevent damage. The phone will not power on and may not respond to the charger at all. Connect the handset to a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold. Once the cell reaches approximately 3.0V, the BMS releases and the phone will boot normally.
