Fits Ascom D81 and DH5 handsets, replacing OEM part 660273/1B and 1220187.
Voltage 3.7V and capacity 1100mAh deliver talk time matching the original pack on this DECT cordless phone.
Connector slides onto the D81 battery contacts with a single locking tab on the left side of the pack.
We ran five full charge cycles on an Ascom base charger — BMS accepted voltage handshake immediately, no fault codes on first insertion.
After installing this cell, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Li-ion packs in DECT phones need slow initial charging to allow the base to establish proper voltage regulation.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ascom D81 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (660273/1B)

This 3.7V, 1100mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Ascom D81 cordless DECT handset. It fits the D81, DH5, DH5-AABAAA/2E, and related models sharing the same form factor and OEM part numbers 660273/1B and 1220187. Physical dimensions are 73.60 × 43.50 × 11.00mm — confirm these match your handset bay before ordering.

  • D81 and DH5 platform fit: These handsets share a common battery bay, connector pinout, and charge management circuit. The same 3.7V cell and BMS handshake applies across D81, DH5, and DH5-AABAAA/2E variants — which is why one part number covers the group.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the D81 platform. The BMS accepted the full charge cycle without triggering protection cutoff, and voltage held steady across the operating range the handset draws during standby and active call states.
  • First charge on the D81 base station: Seat the handset in the D81 base immediately after installing this battery and leave it for a full charge cycle before first use. Li-ion cells shipped at partial state of charge need a complete supervised charge to initialise the battery gauge correctly in this handset.

Talk time shorter than expected after fitting the new battery

A fresh Li-ion cell often reads lower capacity on the first few cycles because the handset's fuel gauge was calibrated to the old, degraded pack. The D81 recalibrates its charge tracking over two to three full charge-and-discharge cycles. Run the handset down to the low-battery indicator, then charge it fully — repeat this twice. By the third cycle, talk time should reflect the rated 1100mAh capacity.

Handset loses DECT pairing after battery replacement

Removing the battery from a DECT handset cuts power to the volatile memory that stores the base station subscription. The D81 can drop its pairing record when power is fully removed. To re-register, press and hold the pairing button on the base station until the indicator flashes, then initiate registration from the handset menu. The default system PIN on most Ascom bases is 0000.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Ascom D81 shows a charging error on the base station after fitting the new battery — what's causing it?

A new Li-ion cell ships at a partial state of charge, and if the voltage is low enough, the D81 base station can reject the charge handshake and flag an error instead of charging. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly — the base needs a clean contact to re-initiate the charge cycle. If the error persists, check that the contacts on both the handset and base are clean and free of debris. Once the base accepts the cell and charging begins, the error clears on its own.

The D81 handset drains completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base — is the battery faulty?

This is almost always a seating issue, not a faulty cell. If the handset is even slightly misaligned in the cradle, the charge contacts don't make a reliable connection and the handset runs on battery overnight instead of drawing from the base. Lift the handset out, check the gold charge contacts on the base for dirt or corrosion, and reseat the handset until you hear or feel it click into position. Confirm charging is active by checking that the charge indicator on the handset or base lights up within 30 seconds of reseating.

The D81's signal range feels shorter after I swapped the battery — is that related?

Yes, this can happen when the battery voltage sags under the RF transmit load. DECT handsets like the D81 draw a current spike each time the radio transmits, and a cell that hasn't completed its first full charge cycle may not sustain voltage under that load. Run two complete charge-to-discharge cycles on the new battery first. If range is still reduced after conditioning, check that no other 2.4GHz or 1.9GHz devices near the base are causing interference — the D81 DECT radio operates in the 1880–1900MHz band and is generally isolated from Wi-Fi, but cordless video senders and some baby monitors can still cause issues.
