This 15.2V, 4800mAh (72.96Wh) Li-Polymer battery replaces the original C41N1541 cell in the Asus GL702 gaming laptop line. It fits GL702, GL702VT, GL702VM, GL702VS, and over 200 additional GL702 variants. Four-cell Li-Polymer construction matches the voltage rail and physical footprint of the factory unit.

  • GL702 series compatibility: All GL702 variants covered here share the same 15.2V four-cell architecture, C41N1541 part number, and EC connector pinout. The BMS handshake, charge termination voltage, and EEPROM addressing are identical across the line, so one cell covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a GL702VT unit. The BMS accepted the cell immediately, charge termination triggered correctly at 16.8V, and the EC reported capacity within the expected range after two calibration cycles.
  • GL702 first-cycle reset procedure: After fitting this cell, run the laptop down to hibernate cutoff on battery only — no charger attached. Then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell's actual capacity curve and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.

Why the GL702 BIOS reports poor battery health immediately after a cell swap

The GL702 EC stores cycle count, charge history, and health data in EEPROM on the battery itself. When a new cell arrives, that EEPROM is blank or reset to factory defaults. The BIOS reads those defaults, compares them against its internal thresholds, and flags the battery as degraded before a single charge cycle completes. This is a firmware read issue, not a fault with the replacement cell. Running two full discharge-to-charge cycles resets the learn algorithm and brings the health indicator back to normal.

GL702 shutting down at 20–30% remaining after battery replacement

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's voltage-to-capacity curve. The laptop's power controller reads the old curve, hits a voltage it interprets as near-empty, and forces a shutdown well before the cell is actually depleted. The fix is a full calibration cycle: discharge to hibernate cutoff under a moderate load — browser plus a background task — then charge straight to 100% without interruption. After two of those cycles the fuel gauge tracks accurately and shutdowns at 25–30% stop occurring.

My GL702 shows 72Wh in the battery report but Windows energy report lists a different design capacity — why don't the numbers match?

The EEPROM on the original cell stored the rated Wh figure from the factory. A replacement cell ships with EEPROM values that reflect actual chemistry rather than the OEM's rounded marketing figure, so the OS pulls a slightly different number from the register. This is a data mismatch between stored EEPROM fields — it does not affect charge behaviour or voltage delivery. After a full calibration cycle the reported and actual figures align more closely.

The fuel gauge on my GL702 is jumping around — showing 60%, then 45%, then back to 55% within minutes of unplugging

The fuel gauge IC needs at least two full calibration cycles against the new cell's actual discharge curve before its readings stabilise. Until those cycles complete, the IC is interpolating against the old cell's voltage map and produces erratic output. Discharge the laptop fully to hibernate cutoff under a steady load, then charge to 100% without interruption — repeat that cycle twice. After the second cycle the gauge reads within a consistent 2–3% band.
