Fits Asus S102 and S102 Multimedia Navigator GPS units; replaces OEM part number 90WG012AE.
3.7V, 1250mAh lithium-polymer cell matches original capacity for full navigation session duration.
Connector sits flush into the battery slot; locking tab seats with slight downward pressure until it clicks.
We bench-tested this cell in an S102 unit; BMS accepted charge within normal voltage envelope and held stable discharge curve.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before use — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes 5–10 minutes for first fix versus under a minute for subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Asus S102 Multimedia Navigator — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (90WG012AE)

This 3.7V, 1250mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Asus S102 and S102 Multimedia Navigator portable GPS units. It matches the OEM part number 90WG012AE and the physical dimensions of the stock cell at 58.22 x 36.09 x 4.95mm. Fit it and the navigator powers on as normal — no firmware changes required.

  • S102 and S102 Multimedia Navigator compatibility: Both models run the same 3.7V single-cell Li-Polymer architecture with the same connector and BMS handshake. This cell meets that voltage rail and communicates correctly with the onboard charge controller.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the S102 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, charge termination triggered correctly at full capacity, and the protection circuit cut off cleanly at the low-voltage threshold.
  • First-use cold start note: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and let it acquire a satellite fix before driving. A full power interruption forces a cold start — expect 5 to 10 minutes for the first fix. Subsequent warm starts drop back under a minute once the almanac data rebuilds.

GPS battery draining faster on active navigation than on standby

Active turn-by-turn navigation runs the GPS receiver and the display simultaneously. The receiver polls satellites continuously and the screen stays lit at full brightness — together these draw significantly more current than standby mode. A worn original cell masks this gap because total capacity is already reduced, so the contrast becomes obvious only when a fresh cell goes in. Reduce display brightness one step and the drain rate drops noticeably on a 1250mAh cell of this size.

S102 shutting off without warning at apparent mid-charge levels

The S102's fuel gauge reads relative capacity based on the original cell's discharge curve. After a battery swap, that calibration is off until the unit completes at least one full charge-to-discharge cycle. Until then, the displayed charge level lags the real voltage, and the device hits the hardware low-voltage cutoff — around 3.0V — before the on-screen indicator reaches zero. Run one full charge cycle, then discharge until the unit powers off naturally to recalibrate the gauge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Asus S102 lost all my saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The S102 stores saved routes and some POI data in battery-backed RAM. Removing the original cell cuts power to that memory entirely, so anything not written to flash storage is gone. User-created routes are the most common casualty. After fitting the new cell, re-enter your saved destinations — the base map data on internal storage is unaffected.

Satellite lock is taking 5 to 10 minutes after the battery swap — something wrong with the new cell?

Nothing is wrong. Pulling the battery triggers a GPS cold start — the receiver loses its last known position, time, and almanac data. It has to download fresh almanac data from satellites from scratch, which takes 5 to 10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Once that data is cached, warm starts on subsequent power cycles drop back to under a minute. Leave the unit stationary outside for the first fix rather than starting navigation immediately.

GPS accuracy on the S102 seems worse when the battery is below half — is the receiver faulty?

The receiver is likely fine. Some GPS units, including compact navigators running on small Li-Polymer cells, reduce receiver sensitivity at low voltage to protect the battery from deep discharge. That sensitivity reduction widens position error. Keep the S102 charged above 3.5V during navigation to hold full receiver performance — plug into car power on longer trips rather than running on battery alone.
