Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Transonic PNA-3002 / MD 95255 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (E3MT07135211)

This 3.7V 1400mAh Li-ion cell replaces part number E3MT07135211 in the Transonic PNA-3002 and MD 95255 portable GPS navigators. It restores power to units where the original cell has degraded and can no longer hold a charge through a full navigation session. Capacity is 1400mAh (5.18Wh), matching the original cell specification.

  • PNA-3002 and MD 95255 compatibility: Both units share the same battery bay dimensions and connector pinout, and both run off the same 3.7V power rail feeding the GPS receiver and display backlight — the E3MT07135211 cell fits either unit without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on compatible hardware and confirmed the protection circuit trips correctly at low-voltage cutoff, preventing the deep-discharge damage that typically shortens GPS navigation batteries.
  • Cold-start acquisition after fitting: After fitting this cell, power the GPS on outdoors and let it acquire a full satellite fix before driving. GPS units perform a cold start after any complete power interruption — first fix can take 5 to 10 minutes outdoors versus under a minute for a warm start once the almanac is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the PNA-3002

The PNA-3002 receiver circuit draws more current during active satellite tracking than during standby map display. When the cell voltage drops below roughly 3.5V, some GPS units reduce RF receiver sensitivity to protect remaining charge — this shows up as position drift or a weaker satellite count on screen. Replacing a degraded cell that sags under load restores the receiver to full sensitivity. Charge the new cell to 4.2V before a long navigation run to keep the voltage rail stable throughout.

PNA-3002 shutting off without low-battery warning

An aged cell loses voltage rapidly in the final 10 to 15 percent of capacity, dropping steeply enough that the device hits its hardware cutoff threshold before the on-screen battery indicator catches up. The result is an abrupt shutdown with no warning displayed. This is a calibration gap between the fuel gauge and the cell's actual discharge curve — not a device fault. Fitting a fresh cell and running two full charge-discharge cycles lets the device relearn the voltage curve and restore accurate low-battery warnings.

Frequently Asked Questions

My PNA-3002 lost all saved routes and POIs after swapping the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The PNA-3002 stores some route and POI data in RAM backed by the battery — a complete power interruption during a swap flushes that volatile memory. Data held on internal flash or an SD card survives the swap, but any unsaved routes active at the time of removal will be gone. Before pulling the old cell, export or note any routes you need to keep, then re-enter them after fitting the new battery.

Satellite lock is taking 5 to 10 minutes after fitting the new battery — did I get a faulty cell?

The cell is fine. A full power interruption clears the GPS almanac — the stored satellite position data the receiver uses for fast locks. Without it, the unit has to download a fresh almanac from scratch, which takes 5 to 10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. This is a cold start, and it happens once. After that first full fix, subsequent locks drop back to under a minute as the almanac rebuilds.

The PNA-3002 drains noticeably faster when actively navigating than when it's just sitting on the desk — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver, map renderer, and display backlight simultaneously — that combination pulls significantly more current than a device sitting idle with the screen off. Screen brightness is the biggest variable; dropping it one or two levels noticeably reduces the draw. If drain still seems excessive during navigation on a fully charged new cell, check that the backlight timeout is set to auto rather than always-on.
