Fits Garmin GPS-3741 handheld navigator; replaces OEM battery model GPS-3741.
3.7V 1400mAh Li-ion cell delivers full capacity for sustained field navigation and waypoint recording on portable GPS units.
Connector slides straight into the GPS-3741 battery slot with a single retention tab; orientation marked on device housing.
We bench-tested this cell in a GPS-3741 unit; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault codes or cutoff errors.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — cold start after power interruption takes 5–10 minutes for initial lock versus under one minute for warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Jucon GPS-3741 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 1400mAh Li-ion cell replaces the factory battery in the Garmin GPS-3741 handheld navigator. It restores full power to the device for outdoor navigation, waypoint logging, and route tracking. Dimensions are 50.22 × 36.88 × 6.52mm — verify against your existing cell before fitting.

  • GPS-3741 compatibility: The GPS-3741 runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion architecture with no active BMS handshake on the battery side — the protection circuit sits on the cell itself. This cell matches that voltage rail and physical footprint directly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a GPS-3741 unit. The onboard protection circuit triggered correctly at low-voltage cutoff, and the device recognised full charge state without error.
  • First-fix cold start after swap: After fitting this cell, power the GPS on outdoors and let it acquire a satellite fix before use. Full power removal triggers a cold start — first fix takes 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop to under a minute once almanac data is rebuilt.

GPS-3741 shutting off without warning at low battery

After a battery swap, the GPS-3741's charge indicator can read inaccurately until the device completes a full charge-discharge calibration cycle. The device's low-battery threshold may trigger a hard shutoff before the on-screen indicator shows critical. This happens because the fuel gauge recalibrates against actual cell capacity over the first few cycles. Run the device to shutoff once, then charge to 100% — the indicator aligns after that.

Saved routes missing after battery replacement

Some GPS-3741 route and POI data is held in battery-backed RAM, which loses state the moment the cell is removed. This is not a fault with the replacement cell — it is a consequence of full power interruption during the swap. Before removing the old battery, export saved routes via the USB connection to a computer. Reload them after the new cell is fitted and the device has completed its first satellite fix.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GPS-3741 took nearly 10 minutes to find a satellite signal after I put the new battery in — is that normal?

Yes. Removing the battery triggers a cold start, which forces the GPS receiver to rebuild its almanac and ephemeris data from scratch rather than using cached satellite positions. That process takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Once complete, warm starts on subsequent power cycles drop to under a minute. No fix needed — just leave the device stationary outside on first use.

The GPS-3741 shut off mid-hike with no low-battery warning — what happened?

The on-screen fuel gauge on the GPS-3741 recalibrates against actual cell capacity over the first full charge-discharge cycle. Until that cycle completes, the cutoff voltage threshold can be hit before the indicator shows critical. Run the device until it shuts off on its own, then charge it fully to 4.2V — after one complete cycle the warning and shutoff align correctly.

My GPS-3741 seems to drain the battery faster when I'm actively navigating versus just carrying it — is the new cell the cause?

The cell is not the cause. The GPS receiver and backlit display together draw significantly more current during active navigation than in standby or sleep mode. At maximum brightness with continuous satellite polling, current draw can be three to four times higher than idle. Reduce display brightness and enable the auto-sleep timeout in the device settings to extend use between charges.
