Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Asus U46 Series — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (A32-U46)
This is a 14.8V, 4400mAh (65.12Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Asus U46 notebook series. It fits U46, U46E-1AWX, U46E-BAL5, U46E-BAL6, and over 36 additional U46 variants using OEM part numbers A32-U46, A41-U46, A42-U46, 4INR18/65, and 4INR18/65-2. If your original cell no longer holds a charge or the laptop won't run off battery power, this is the direct replacement cell for that platform.
- U46 series cell compatibility: The U46 platform uses a shared battery bay and connector across its E-suffix variants. All supported models run the same 14.8V four-cell configuration, so the BMS handshake and physical connector are consistent across the lineup listed above.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge-to-full, load discharge, and BMS cutoff on U46 hardware. The protection circuit engaged correctly at low-voltage cutoff, and the charge IC accepted the cell without fault codes on the first cycle.
- First-cycle calibration on the U46: After fitting this cell, run a full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without interruption. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning the U46 BIOS displays after every cell swap.
Why the U46 BIOS flags a new battery as poor health immediately after swap
The U46 BIOS reads health data from EEPROM registers carried over from the old cell. When a new cell is installed, those registers still reflect the degraded state of the previous battery. The system hasn't yet run a learn cycle against the new cell's actual charge curve, so it reports the stale data as current health. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the firmware to overwrite those registers with accurate values from the new cell.
U46 shutting down at 20–30% battery shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't been calibrated to the new cell's voltage curve. The gauge assumes the old cell's steeper voltage drop and calls shutdown early, even though capacity remains. It is not a fault with the replacement cell. Run two to three full discharge and charge cycles — by the third cycle the gauge IC recalibrates, and the displayed percentage will track actual remaining voltage accurately down to the cutoff point near 10.8V.

Frequently Asked Questions
The U46 BIOS shows the new battery as "Unknown" or 0% — is the cell dead on arrival?
It isn't. The U46 BIOS reads health and identification data from EEPROM registers that still hold stale values from the old cell. Until the firmware runs a full learn cycle, it can't identify the new cell correctly. Discharge the laptop completely to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — after that single cycle the BIOS should read the cell correctly and clear the unknown status.
Windows is showing the wrong Wh rating for this battery in the power report — it says 48Wh but the cell is rated 65.12Wh
The Wh figure Windows reports is pulled from the EEPROM design capacity field, which may differ from the actual cell chemistry in a replacement unit. The fuel gauge IC reconciles the two values over calibration cycles, not immediately after install. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles and re-run the Windows battery report — the reported Wh figure will update as the gauge IC maps real capacity against the EEPROM baseline.
The U46 charges to 80% and then stops — the indicator light goes solid but the percentage won't climb higher
Some U46 firmware versions include a BIOS-controlled charge limit that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell stress — this is a firmware setting, not a battery fault. Check the Asus Power4Gear or MyASUS utility under Windows; there is a "Battery Health Charging" or "Maximum Lifespan Mode" toggle that enforces the 80% ceiling. Switch it to "Full Capacity Mode" and the charge will proceed to 100% on the next cycle.
