Fits Asus ZenFone 3 5.2 (ZE520KL) and replaces OEM battery part C11P1601, 0B200-02160000.
Delivers 3.85V at 2500mAh (9.63Wh) — standard output for this phone's processor, modem, and display load.
Uses a flat connector with single locking tab; seats vertically into the battery cavity below the display.
We bench-tested this cell at 0.5C discharge; the BMS accepted the charge without fault codes and held stable voltage under 800mA load.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle to let the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Asus ZenFone 3 5.2 / ZE520KL — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (C11P1601)

This is a 3.85V, 2500mAh Li-Polymer cell that replaces the original C11P1601 battery in the Asus ZenFone 3 5.2 and ZE520KL. It fits ZE520KL variants including ZenFone 3 Dual SIM Global LTE. Capacity matches the factory spec at 9.63Wh.

  • ZE520KL and Dual SIM Global LTE fitment: Both variants share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — one cell fits all listed models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full charge and load discharge on ZE520KL hardware. The BMS handshake completed correctly, charge current stepped down at 4.35V as expected, and the protection circuit tripped cleanly at the low-voltage cutoff.
  • First-cycle fuel gauge reset on the ZE520KL: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard current. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before the charge IC begins pushing higher current into an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the ZE520KL after a cell swap

This happens because the ZenFone 3's fuel gauge IC still holds the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell. The new cell hits a voltage cliff under modem or display load at a state-of-charge the IC has not yet mapped correctly. The phone reads 25% but the actual cell voltage has already dropped below the shutdown threshold. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard current rewrites the coulomb counter baseline and clears this behaviour.

USB fast charge not activating on the first cycle after replacement

After fitting a new cell, the charge IC on the ZE520KL may default to standard 5V/1A input until it confirms the BMS is responding within expected parameters. On a fresh cell with no charge history, the proprietary fast-charge handshake can be skipped on the first cycle. Complete one full standard charge first — the IC logs the cell's internal resistance and re-enables the fast-charge protocol from the second cycle onward. Confirm fast charge is active by checking the notification shade for the fast-charging indicator at 5V/2A or above.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ZenFone 3 shuts off at around 25% after fitting the new battery — is the cell faulty?

The cell is not faulty. The ZE520KL's fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, so it misreads the new cell's state of charge. Under modem or screen load, the actual cell voltage drops below the shutdown threshold before the gauge catches up. Run one full discharge down to auto-off, then charge uninterrupted to 100% at standard current — this recalibrates the coulomb counter to the new cell curve.

The battery percentage on my ZenFone 3 jumps around erratically after the swap — what causes that?

Erratic percentage readings come from the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against a new cell it has no historical data for. The ZE520KL uses a coulomb counter that builds its model from accumulated charge and discharge cycles — on a fresh cell, that model is empty. The readings stabilise after two to three complete discharge-charge cycles as the IC builds an accurate capacity map. Do not top-up charge during this period; let each cycle run fully from low to 100%.

Phone won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in the drawer for months before I installed it — how do I recover it?

A Li-Polymer cell stored uncharged can self-discharge below 2.5V, which triggers BMS lockout to prevent cell damage. The ZE520KL will show no response — no boot, no charging indicator. Connect the phone to a wall adapter (not a PC port) and leave it undisturbed for 20–30 minutes; the charge IC trickle-charges the cell at a safe low current until voltage rises above the 2.9V BMS re-enable threshold. Once the charging indicator appears on screen, the BMS has unlocked and normal charging resumes.
