Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Lenovo Vibe X3 / X3c70 — 3.82V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BL258)
This is a 3.82V, 3500mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery using OEM part number BL258. It fits the Lenovo Vibe X3, X3c70, Lemon X3, and Lemon X3 Dual SIM TD-LTE. The cell slots into the existing battery bay and connects to the same BMS handshake points as the original unit.
- Vibe X3 and X3c70 shared platform: Both devices run the same MSM8976 voltage rail and use the identical four-pin BL258 connector layout. The BMS on this cell communicates fuel gauge data back to Lenovo's charge IC without any adapter or modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on a Vibe X3 unit. The BMS held cutoff at 4.35V on charge and engaged under-voltage protection at 3.0V on discharge without triggering false shutdowns mid-cycle.
- First-cycle fuel gauge calibration: After installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption. This lets the coulomb counter on the Snapdragon 652 fuel gauge IC map its baseline against the new cell's actual discharge curve before fast current is applied.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on a freshly installed BL258
The Vibe X3's fuel gauge IC holds a discharge curve from the original cell in non-volatile memory. When a new cell with a different internal impedance goes in, the IC predicts voltage collapse earlier than it actually occurs. Under screen-on or modem load, the reported percentage and real cell voltage diverge fast enough to trigger an emergency cutoff. One full uncalibrated discharge-charge cycle rewrites the stored curve. After that cycle, shutdowns at 20–30% typically stop.
Phone warm near the battery compartment on the first few charges
A fresh Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a cell that has been cycled. The charge IC compensates by pushing slightly more voltage to maintain target current, and that extra energy converts to heat at the cell terminals. This is normal for the first two to three charge cycles and fades as impedance drops with cycling. If warmth persists past five full cycles or the phone becomes hot to the touch, check that the charge port is not delivering current above 5V/2A until the fuel gauge IC has completed its first calibration cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my Lenovo Vibe X3 show the wrong battery percentage after fitting the BL258 replacement?
The fuel gauge IC on the Snapdragon 652 stores the discharge curve of the old cell in memory, and a new cell with different impedance immediately causes a mismatch between reported and actual charge state. We saw this on the bench — the percentage reading drifted by up to 15% on the first cycle. Run one complete discharge to automatic shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%, and the coulomb counter recalibrates against the new cell. After that single cycle, percentage accuracy returns to normal.
The Vibe X3 shuts off at around 25% even though the replacement battery shows capacity in settings — what's happening?
This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity issue. Under modem or display load, the cell voltage drops sharply at around 3.4–3.5V, and the fuel gauge IC triggers a protection cutoff before the displayed percentage reaches zero. It happens because the IC's voltage-to-percentage table still reflects the old cell's curve. One full calibration cycle — discharge to shutdown, then charge to 100% — rewrites that table. If shutdowns continue past three calibrated cycles, confirm the replacement cell is resting at 4.35V immediately after a full charge.
Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery in my Vibe X3 — is that a phone fault or a battery fault?
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC sometimes falls back to standard 5V/1A charging because the BMS on the new cell has not yet completed its handshake with the Qualcomm Quick Charge circuit. We observed this during bench testing — fast charge re-engaged automatically on the second charge cycle once the BMS reported a valid cell state. Let the phone complete one full standard charge from under 10% to 100%, then reconnect your Quick Charge adapter and verify the charging indicator shows fast charge mode.
