Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AT&T 2422 / 1165 / 1177 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 300mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for AT&T cordless phone handsets, including the 2422, 1165, and 1177 models. It replaces the original pack that powers the handset during calls and standby. Dimensions are 30.00 × 32.00 × 10.50mm — verify these match your handset bay before ordering.

  • Broad AT&T handset fit: The 2422, 1165, 1177, and over 130 additional AT&T models share the same 3.6V single-cell NiMH form factor and battery contacts. One pack covers a wide range of AT&T cordless handsets from the same platform generation.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on AT&T-platform handsets. The cell holds voltage through the transmit pulses without tripping the handset's low-battery cutoff at standard RF output.
  • First charge on AT&T NiMH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before the first call. NiMH cordless packs ship in a partially discharged state — the slow first charge lets the cells reach rated capacity. Skipping this step shortens usable charge for the first several cycles.

Base station showing no charge light after installing a new NiMH pack

NiMH cells lose voltage during warehouse storage. If the pack voltage drops below the base station's acceptance threshold — typically around 3.0V for a 3.6V NiMH — the base may not register a charge connection at all. The fix is to leave the handset seated in the base undisturbed for at least two to four hours. Most AT&T base stations will begin trickle-charging a deeply discharged pack once the circuit detects minimal cell resistance, and the charge indicator should appear within that window.

Talk time shorter than expected after the swap

Short talk time in the first few cycles after a NiMH swap is a chemistry issue, not a defective pack. NiMH cells need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity — 300mAh in this case. Each cycle, the pack holds a little more charge than the last. Run the handset down until the low-battery alert sounds, then return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat this for at least three cycles before judging talk time.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AT&T handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some AT&T DECT handsets lose their base registration when power is fully removed during a battery swap. Re-register the handset by pressing the page or find button on the base while the handset is powered on and within range. If the handset shows "searching" or no signal, navigate to the handset menu and run the base registration step manually. Full instructions are in the handset manual under "Register Handset" — the process takes under two minutes.

The battery drains completely overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base — what's wrong?

This points to a seating issue rather than a bad cell. If the charging contacts on the handset or base are slightly oxidised or misaligned, the handset runs on battery the entire time it sits in the cradle. Remove the handset, wipe the gold charging pins on both the handset and the base with a dry cloth, then reseat firmly until you feel or hear it click into position. The charge indicator on the base should light within 30 seconds of correct contact.

Range dropped noticeably right after fitting the new battery — is the battery causing it?

Yes — a new NiMH pack that hasn't completed its first full charge will sag in voltage under the RF transmit load, and the handset's radio pulls back its output to compensate. The transmit circuit on AT&T cordless handsets is sensitive to voltage drop during the pulse — anything below roughly 3.2V under load and range suffers. Complete the 16-hour initial charge in the base, then run two or three full cycles, and the pack will sustain voltage through transmit bursts without sagging.
