Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Alcatel Biloba 490 / 590 / Versatis D100 Duo — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (37AAAM3BMJ)
This is a 3.6V, 300mAh Ni-MH battery for the Alcatel Biloba 490, Biloba 590, and Versatis D100 Duo cordless handsets. It replaces OEM part numbers 37AAAM3BMJ, 3BN66090AAAC, and 30AAAM3BMJ. Physical dimensions are 30.00 × 32.00 × 10.50mm — verify fit before ordering if you have an older revision handset.
- Biloba 490, 590, and Versatis D100 Duo compatibility: All three models share the same 3.6V single-cell NiMH pack format, identical connector, and the same base station charge circuit. One battery part number covers the full range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on the Biloba 490 base station and confirmed the charge circuit accepted the battery without error. Voltage rose steadily through the charge curve with no premature cutoff.
- First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells at low state of charge from storage will not reach rated capacity on a short charge — the long first cycle conditions the cells properly.
Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement
NiMH cells ship in a partially discharged state and need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. On the first cycle, the Biloba's base station may cut the charge short because the cell voltage rises faster from low capacity than it will once the pack is conditioned. Each subsequent full cycle extends available talk time until the pack stabilises at its rated 300mAh. If talk time is still noticeably short after five full cycles, check the base contacts and handset terminals for oxidation — a poor connection limits charge acceptance.
Base station charge indicator not lighting after battery swap
NiMH packs that have been sitting in storage can drop below the voltage threshold the Biloba base uses to detect a valid battery. If the charge light stays off or flashes an error, the pack voltage is likely too low for the base circuit to recognise it. Remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, reseat it firmly, and confirm both the handset contact strip and base pins are clean and making full contact. If the light still does not come on, check the resting voltage at the battery terminals — it should read at least 3.0V for the base to begin charging.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Alcatel Biloba 490 handset stopped pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — what happened?
Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT phones lose their pairing data when power is fully interrupted. The Biloba 490 stores pairing in volatile memory backed by the battery, so a full power loss can reset it. To re-pair, press and hold the registration button on the base until the indicator flashes, then follow the pairing sequence on the handset. Once paired, the handset should register on the base within 30 seconds.
The Biloba 490 battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — is that normal?
No — a correctly seated handset in the Alcatel Biloba base should maintain charge, not lose it overnight. The most common cause is the handset not making clean contact with the base charging pins, so the charge circuit never actually engages. Remove the handset, check that the two contact strips on the back are free of dust and corrosion, wipe them with a dry cloth, and reseat the handset so it clicks firmly into the cradle. If the base indicator light is not on after reseating, the circuit is not charging — clean the base pins with a dry cotton swab and try again.
The Biloba 490 range dropped noticeably right after I put in the new battery — what causes that?
DECT transmit power is stable only when the battery voltage holds steady under RF load. A NiMH pack that has not yet been conditioned will sag in voltage the moment the transmitter fires, and the handset reduces output power to stay within safe operating limits. This is not a fault with the battery — it is normal behaviour during the first few cycles. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles and the voltage sag under load will reduce as the cells reach rated capacity at 3.6V.
