This is a 3.7V, 800mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the AT&T Z221 mobile phone. It slots into the original battery compartment and restores power to the handset. Capacity is 800mAh (2.96Wh) — matching the stock specification.

A new cell has a discharge curve the fuel gauge IC has never seen. The IC's stored model still expects the old degraded cell, so it misjudges how much voltage remains under load. When the modem or screen draws current, the actual cell voltage drops below the cutoff threshold before the gauge reaches 0%. One full discharge-recharge cycle corrects the internal model and stops the premature shutdowns.

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If a cell drops below approximately 2.5V, the BMS locks out to prevent reverse charging, and the phone will not respond to a power button press. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS unlock threshold, after which the phone should power on normally and continue charging.
