Fits Audioline FF888 and FF988 cordless phone handsets, replacing OEM battery part 3.6V Ni-MH packs that no longer hold charge.
3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers the voltage and capacity this handset requires for full talk time and standby range on a single charge cycle.
Connector slides straight into the battery compartment on the FF888 handset with no adapter needed — polarity marked on the housing for correct orientation.
We bench-tested this cell through five charge cycles on the Audioline base station; BMS voltage stabilized at 3.6V under standby load with no cutoff errors.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Audioline FF888 / FF988 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Audioline FF888 and FF988 cordless phone handsets. It slots directly into the handset battery compartment and restores wireless operation away from the base station. Dimensions are 30.30 × 42.60 × 14.30mm — check these against your existing pack before ordering.

  • FF888 and FF988 compatibility: Both handsets share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pin layout, and 3.6V NiMH voltage rail. One battery covers both models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge passes on DECT handset hardware. The cell voltage held within spec across cycles and the handset registered a normal charge state on the base station cradle.
  • First charge after installation: Place the handset in the base for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH packs shipped from storage are partially discharged — a slow initial charge lets the cells reach rated capacity properly.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

NiMH cells need three to five full charge and discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. A new pack will feel weak on day one — that is normal chemistry, not a fault. Each full cycle conditions the cells and increases usable capacity incrementally. By cycle five, the pack should be performing at its rated 600mAh level.

Base station showing a charge error or no-charge light after swap

When a NiMH pack sits in storage, its resting voltage drops below the threshold some base stations require to begin a charge cycle. The base sees the low voltage and flags an error rather than starting the charge. Remove the handset, leave it out for 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly in the cradle. If the error persists, the pack voltage may need a boost — place it in the base for 10 minutes, remove it again, and reseat; this often clears the fault and triggers a normal charge cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Audioline FF888 handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT phones drop their pairing data when power is fully lost. The fix is to re-register the handset manually. On most Audioline bases, press and hold the page/find button on the base until the base enters pairing mode, then follow the handset registration steps in the manual. Pairing is a software state stored in the handset — the new battery has no effect on whether it reconnects successfully once re-registered.

My FF888 battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what is causing that?

This points to the handset not making a solid electrical connection with the base charging contacts. If the handset is not fully seated, the base cannot charge, but the handset standby circuit keeps drawing current from the battery all night. Clean the charging contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, then push the handset firmly into the cradle until it clicks or sits flush. Check the battery voltage the next morning — it should read at or above 4.2V if the base charged overnight correctly.

After fitting the new battery, the FF888 loses range and drops calls at distances that used to be fine — is the battery causing this?

Yes — low NiMH cell voltage under RF load is a known cause of range drop on DECT handsets. When the transmitter fires, it draws a short high-current burst. A partially conditioned NiMH pack sags in voltage during that burst, and the handset reduces transmit power to compensate. Run three to five full charge and discharge cycles to condition the cells to their rated 600mAh capacity. Range should return to normal once the pack holds a stable voltage above 3.6V under load.
