Fits VTech VT9109, VT9110, VT9117, VT9118 cordless handsets; replaces OEM Ni-MH pack.
3.6V, 600mAh capacity delivers standard talk and standby power for these DECT handsets.
Connector slides straight into handset battery compartment; locking tab secures pack against vibration.
Bench testing showed BMS accepted full charge cycle; voltage held steady under transmit load.
After installing, place handset in base for full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH requires slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

V Tech VT9109 / VT9110 / VT9117 / VT9118 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for V Tech cordless phone handsets. It fits the VT9109, VT9110, VT9117, and VT9118, along with six additional models in the same series. It replaces the original cell when the handset no longer holds a charge through a normal call or standby period.

  • VT9100-series handset compatibility: These models share the same 3.6V three-cell NiMH pack format, connector pitch, and physical footprint. The base station charging circuit on all of them is calibrated to the same charge termination voltage, so one battery spec covers the full range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the VT9109 platform. The BMS accepted charge from the base station on the first insertion, and the handset registered full signal bars within a completed charge cycle.
  • First-charge conditioning on NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in phone batteries ship partially discharged. Skipping the slow initial charge leaves usable capacity on the table for the first several cycles.

Base station charging error on a freshly installed NiMH pack

A new NiMH battery that has been sitting in storage can drop to a voltage the base station's charge controller reads as a fault condition. Most V Tech base stations use delta-V detection, which expects the cell voltage to climb from a baseline. If the pack is too flat, the controller sees no valid starting point and flags an error. Remove the handset, hold the battery contacts together with a known-good AA cell briefly to provide a surface charge, then reseat the handset. That small voltage bump is usually enough for the base to begin a normal charge cycle.

Range drops noticeably mid-call after a battery swap

This happens when the NiMH pack voltage sags under the RF transmit load before the cells have completed conditioning. The DECT radio in the VT9109 series draws a sharp current spike during transmission, and an unconditioned battery cannot hold its voltage steady under that load. The handset responds by reducing transmit power, which cuts effective range. Run three to five full charge-and-use cycles and the cells will firm up — internal resistance drops as the chemistry stabilises, and the voltage sag during transmit narrows. By cycle five, check that open-circuit voltage sits at or above 4.1V after a full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My VT9109 handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some V Tech DECT models clear their registration data when power drops completely. The base station also loses track of the handset. Re-register by pressing the page or find button on the base for about four seconds while the handset is powered on and within one metre of the base — the handset should display "Searching" then confirm registration. If the base has a dedicated registration button, hold it until the handset beeps twice.

The handset sits in the base all night but still feels warm and flat by morning — why is it draining?

This is a standby draw issue, not a charging failure. If the handset is not seated squarely in the cradle, the charging contacts don't make consistent connection and the handset runs on battery rather than base power. Check that the handset clicks fully into the base and the charge indicator light stays solid. A loose fit or dirty contacts — clean them with a dry cotton swab — can break the circuit intermittently. If the indicator light is solid and the battery still drains overnight, confirm the wall adapter is delivering the rated 9V DC output with a multimeter.

Talk time is noticeably shorter than what the original battery gave, even after a full charge — is the new battery faulty?

Not likely — this is normal NiMH behaviour for the first few cycles after a battery that shipped in partial discharge. NiMH cells recover usable capacity progressively over three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles. The rated 600mAh is reached once the cells have been fully exercised. Let the handset run until the low-battery warning sounds, then return it to the base for a full charge — repeat that sequence at least three times before comparing talk time to the original.
