BBK VIVO X5M — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (B-83)

This 3.8V, 2300mAh (8.74Wh) lithium-polymer cell replaces the original B-83 battery in the VIVO X5M, VIVO X5M 4G Dual SIM, VIVO X5M L, and VIVO Y35A smartphones. It restores power to the processor, display, modem, and all onboard functions. Fit the replacement when the original cell no longer holds a charge or fails to accept one.

• X5M and Y35A shared platform: These models share the same connector pinout, cell footprint at 82.65 × 59.00 × 3.50mm, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why a single B-83 cell covers the full group.
• Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the X5M platform. The BMS accepted charge handshake on the first cycle and held cutoff voltage within expected range at both ends of the curve.
• Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

A new cell has a slightly different voltage-to-capacity curve than the aged cell the fuel gauge IC was trained on. Under modem or display load, voltage drops sharply near the lower end of the curve — faster than the IC expects. The phone reads 25% remaining, but the cell voltage collapses below the BMS cutoff threshold under load. One full slow discharge-charge cycle recalibrates the coulomb counter and moves the shutdown point back to where it belongs.

Phone warm near the battery during the first few charges

A fresh lithium-polymer cell starts with slightly higher internal impedance than a run-in cell. The charge IC pushes current into higher resistance, which converts more energy to heat in the first few cycles. This is normal and reduces as the cell conditions. If warmth persists past the third full charge cycle or the phone becomes hot to the touch, check that the charge IC has not locked into a high-current fast-charge mode — drop to standard 5V charging until the cell has fully run in.
