Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Archos 45c Platinum — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AC45CPL)
This 3.7V Li-ion cell at 1450mAh (5.37Wh) replaces the original battery in the Archos 45c Platinum and 45c Platinum 6. It fits both variants using OEM part numbers AC45CPL and AL45CPL. Install it when the original cell can no longer hold enough charge for daily use.
- 45c Platinum and 45c Platinum 6 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol, which is why a single cell — 62.00 × 56.95 × 4.40mm — covers both variants without any modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the 45c Platinum platform. The BMS accepted the cell on first connection, thermal readings stayed within normal range throughout charging, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage threshold.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle before normal use. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins against an uncalibrated baseline.
Why the Archos 45c Platinum reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches actual cell behaviour, so the percentage display drifts. The IC needs at least one full discharge and charge cycle to recalibrate its coulomb counter against the new cell. Charge to 100%, let it drain to automatic shutdown, then charge back to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle, percentage reporting should track accurately.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the modem radio or display backlight draws a short current spike that drops cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the reported percentage looks safe. A new cell operating on an uncalibrated fuel gauge curve is most vulnerable during that first week. The fix is the same recalibration cycle above: one uninterrupted discharge to shutdown, then a full charge. Once the gauge IC has a real discharge curve to reference, it compensates for load-spike voltage sag and the shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Archos 45c Platinum won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for months — is the new battery dead on arrival?
Probably not. A cell stored below 2.5V triggers BMS lockout, which blocks all output to protect the cell from damage. Connect the phone to a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC needs time to trickle current into a locked-out cell before the BMS releases. If the charging LED comes on at any point, the cell is recovering. Once it reaches approximately 3.0V, the BMS unlocks and the phone will power on normally.
The phone feels warm near the battery while charging the new cell — is that a fault?
A new Li-ion cell starts with higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates more heat in the first few cycles as it pushes current into higher resistance. That warmth is normal and drops after three to five charge cycles as the cell's impedance settles. If the phone becomes hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold, stop charging and check that the charge port and cable are not restricting current flow with a dirty or damaged connector. After the break-in period, charging temperature on the 45c Platinum should return to what you felt with the original battery.
The battery percentage jumps erratically — skipping from 45% down to 12% and back — after fitting the replacement cell.
The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating its coulomb counter against a cell it has not yet characterised. The stored discharge curve from the original cell does not match this cell's voltage-versus-capacity profile, so the percentage calculation produces unstable readings. Run one complete uninterrupted cycle — drain the phone to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% without removing the charger. That single cycle gives the fuel gauge IC enough data to build an accurate curve, and the erratic jumps stop.
