This is a 12V 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Becker SK460 gate drive and access control units. It fits the SK460 6Nm and SK460 10Nm actuators, as well as Becker models 40340002330 and 40340002340. Capacity is 3000mAh (36Wh) — matched to the original specification.
- SK460 6Nm and 10Nm compatibility: Both torque variants of the SK460 run the same 12V internal power rail with an identical connector pinout and cell format (428 × 25 × 22.3mm). The BMS on each unit performs the same charge handshake, so one cell SKU covers both drive ratings.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the SK460 charge controller and confirmed the BMS accepted the Ni-MH charge curve without triggering a fault state. Cell voltage held within the expected window across full charge and discharge cycles.
- Post-installation gate re-initialisation: After fitting this battery, run the SK460 through a full open-close calibration cycle before relying on position limits. The actuator controller can lose end-stop memory during a power interruption and will need to relearn travel limits from scratch.
Why the SK460 stalls mid-travel after a battery swap
The SK460 motor controller monitors supply voltage continuously during gate movement. If the replacement cell has not been charged before installation, its resting voltage may sit low enough to trigger the under-voltage cutoff the moment the motor draws current on startup. The controller interprets this as a fault, not a dead battery, and halts travel. Charge the new cell fully before fitting it — the SK460 expects at least 13.5V at the terminals when the motor engages.

Ni-MH cells leave storage at a reduced voltage — typically 10.5–11V — which sits below the SK460's low-battery alert threshold. The drive unit reads this as a weak battery even though the cell is new and undamaged. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Connect the drive to mains power and allow the onboard charger to bring the cell to full charge before dismissing the alert.

My Becker SK460 gate stopped halfway through its travel right after I put in the new battery — what happened?
The SK460 motor controller cuts power if supply voltage drops below its threshold during the high-current draw of gate movement. A new Ni-MH cell shipped from storage will often sit too low to sustain that draw, even though it is not defective. Charge the battery fully while installed before operating the gate. Once the onboard charger brings the cell above 13.5V, restart the drive and run a full calibration cycle to reset the end-stop positions.
The SK460 is running through this battery much faster than the old one — is something wrong?
A Ni-MH cell needs several charge-discharge cycles before it reaches full rated capacity. If the gate is cycling frequently in cold weather, capacity will also read lower than expected because Ni-MH chemistry loses available charge below 10°C. Check the drive's cycle log or motion sensor settings — a misaligned obstacle sensor triggering repeated open-close attempts is the most common cause of accelerated drain on SK460 units. Let the cell complete at least three full cycles before drawing conclusions about its capacity.
The Becker app is still showing the gate as offline even though the drive has power again — how do I fix it?
The SK460 controller resets its network registration on a hard power loss, which means the hub loses the device record even after power returns. This is different from the gate simply going offline — the hub needs to re-discover the unit, not just wait for it to reconnect. Open the Becker app, navigate to device management, and run a new device scan while the drive is powered on. The SK460 will broadcast its pairing signal for 60 seconds after each power-on event.
