Fits Kaba 132-512003 and FDU G4 access control systems replacing OEM part 132-512003.
4.8V 1200mAh Ni-CD chemistry delivers continuous power to electronic lock solenoids and entry mechanism controllers.
Connector slides into vertical slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab seats flush against housing edge.
We bench-tested the BMS integration on a live FDU G4 unit — cell accepted charge without fault codes and held voltage under sustained solenoid draw.
After installation, wait 60 seconds before unlocking — the access control system re-establishes its security handshake sequence after power interruption.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Kaba FDU G4 / 132-512003 — 4.8V Ni-CD Replacement Battery (132-512003)

This is a 4.8V 1200mAh Ni-CD replacement battery for the Kaba 132-512003 access control and electronic lock system, including FDU G4 units. It slots into the lock housing and powers the electronic entry mechanism. Voltage and capacity match the original cell exactly — 4.8V, 1200mAh (5.76Wh).

  • FDU G4 and 132-512003 compatibility: Both units run on the same 4.8V Ni-CD cell with identical connector pinout and BMS charge profile. Swapping chemistry or voltage on these locks trips the onboard protection circuit and prevents the latch motor from actuating.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the lock's charge and discharge sequence. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, and the latch motor actuated cleanly through multiple lock and unlock cycles.
  • Post-install reconnection on FDU G4 units: After fitting a new cell, wait at least 60 seconds before testing access. The FDU G4 runs a mesh network re-join sequence after any power interruption — presenting a credential before that sequence completes will return an access denial even with a valid code.

Why the Kaba FDU G4 shows a low battery alert immediately after a new cell is fitted

Ni-CD cells self-discharge in storage — a new cell sitting on a shelf can drop to 3.8V or lower before it reaches you. The FDU G4 controller reads pack voltage on power-up and throws a low battery flag if it sees anything below approximately 4.2V. The alert is not a fault with the battery itself. Connect the lock to its normal charging source and allow a full charge cycle to complete — the alert clears once pack voltage crosses the threshold.

Kaba 132-512003 lock not reconnecting to the hub after battery replacement

Pulling the battery breaks the device's network session entirely — the hub does not hold the pairing in a suspended state. When power returns, the lock broadcasts a re-join request, but some hubs require a manual prompt to accept it. Open the access control app, navigate to device management, and trigger a re-pair or re-scan. Once the hub acknowledges the lock, test with a valid credential at 4.8V fully charged.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Kaba FDU G4 went offline right after I swapped the battery — is the new cell faulty?

The cell is almost certainly fine. Every power interruption forces the FDU G4 to run a mesh network re-join sequence, which takes up to 60 seconds. If the device is still offline after a full minute, the hub may have dropped the pairing — open the access control app and trigger a manual re-scan to restore the connection.

My Kaba 132-512003 lock is draining the new Ni-CD cell noticeably faster than the original lasted — what causes that?

High polling frequency from the hub is the most common cause on these locks. If the hub is set to check device status every few seconds rather than on-event only, the lock radio stays active far longer than it should. Check your hub's polling or heartbeat interval setting and reduce it — this alone can extend cell life significantly on low-draw access control devices.

The Kaba FDU G4 accepted the new battery but the latch motor won't actuate and there's no error code showing — what should I check first?

A Ni-CD cell at storage voltage may not deliver enough current to drive the latch motor even if the controller powers on. Check pack voltage at the terminals — it should read at or above 4.5V under load. If it reads lower, put the lock on charge for a full cycle before testing again; the motor draw at actuation is the highest current event the cell sees.
