Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Biocare iE3000 / iE101 — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HYLB-1994)
This is an 11.1V 2600mAh (28.86Wh) lithium-ion battery for the Biocare iE3000 and iE101 portable medical diagnostic instruments. It replaces OEM part numbers HYLB-1994 and 02030046. Physical dimensions are 68.60 × 55.20 × 18.60mm — confirm these against your existing cell before fitting.
- iE3000 and iE101 compatibility: Both models run the same 11.1V three-cell series architecture with an identical connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol. One battery covers both platforms without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the iE3000 platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell, passed the charge-complete flag, and held voltage within spec under the device's diagnostic load profile.
- Power-on self-test after installation: After fitting this battery, let the iE3000 or iE101 complete its full startup self-test without interrupting power. Medical device BMS firmware runs a battery verification routine at boot. Cutting power mid-sequence flags a persistent battery fault that will not clear until the next clean reboot.
Why the iE3000 rejects a new battery during self-test
The iE3000's BMS uses a learned capacity threshold set against OEM cell chemistry. A fresh replacement cell has not yet completed a full charge-discharge cycle, so its reported state-of-charge profile does not match the stored baseline. The device interprets this mismatch as a fault and may display a battery error or refuse to proceed past the self-test screen. Running one complete charge cycle — to full charge termination, then to normal discharge cutoff at approximately 9V — writes the correct capacity data to the BMS and clears this condition.
Charge indicator stuck below 100% after fitting a new cell
On first charge, the iE3000's charge IC applies a conservative current limit to an unrecognised cell, which causes the charge cycle to terminate early before the cell reaches full capacity. The indicator reads 85–95% and stops climbing. This is a charge IC protection behaviour, not a faulty battery. Connect the device to mains power and allow a second full charge cycle — the IC adjusts its termination threshold once it has profiled the new cell, and the indicator will reach 100%.

Frequently Asked Questions
The iE3000 is alarming low battery straight after a confirmed full charge — why?
The BMS compares state-of-charge data against a stored OEM cell profile. A new cell that has not completed its first full cycle does not match that profile, so the device triggers a low-battery alarm even when the cell is fully charged. Run one complete charge-to-discharge cycle — down to the device's cutoff at around 9V — then recharge fully. The alarm will not recur once the BMS has written the new cell's profile.
The iE3000 will not power on at all after the replacement battery was stored for a while before fitting — what happened?
Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage. If the cell dropped below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell, or roughly 7.5V pack voltage — the BMS locks out discharge entirely as a protection measure. Connect the device to mains power and leave it on charge for at least four hours without attempting to power on. Most BMS circuits re-initialise from a trickle charge at this stage and restore normal operation.
The iE3000 is shutting off unexpectedly during use in the first few days after fitting — is the battery defective?
This is a known behaviour in the first 10 cycles on medical devices with dynamic load profiles. The iE3000 draws variable current during active diagnostic routines, and a new cell's internal resistance is slightly higher before it is broken in — causing brief voltage sag that trips the BMS undervoltage cutoff. The shutdowns become less frequent after each full charge-discharge cycle. If the device is still shutting off after 10 full cycles, check pack voltage under load — it should hold above 10.0V during normal operation.
