Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Veins Accuvein AV400 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ACCUAVBA400)
This 3.7V, 3100mAh Li-ion battery replaces the internal cell in the Accuvein AV400 handheld vein finder. The AV400 uses near-infrared projection to visualise subcutaneous veins, and its battery must deliver consistent output to maintain accurate imaging during clinical procedures. Swapping a degraded cell restores full operational availability without replacing the entire unit.
- AV400 platform compatibility: The AV400 uses a fixed 3.7V single-cell Li-ion architecture with a BMS that monitors cell voltage and temperature during operation. This replacement cell matches the OEM voltage rail and connector footprint, so the charge IC communicates with the BMS without a handshake error on first boot.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, boot self-test, and active imaging load on an AV400 unit. The BMS accepted the cell on the first full charge cycle and reported accurate state-of-charge without triggering a false fault flag.
- Post-swap self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, let the AV400 complete its full power-on self-test without interrupting the sequence. The device runs a BMS verification routine at startup — cutting power mid-cycle causes a battery fault flag that persists until the next clean, full reboot.
Why the AV400 alarms low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge
The AV400's BMS stores a learned capacity profile from the OEM cell. When a new replacement cell is installed, the BMS has no reference data for the new cell's actual charge curve, so it applies a conservative threshold that can trigger a low-battery alarm even at a high state of charge. This resolves after one complete charge-discharge cycle, which allows the BMS to build an accurate profile for the new cell. Do not use the device clinically until that first full cycle is complete.
AV400 not completing boot sequence after battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If a replacement cell drops below approximately 2.5V before installation, the AV400's BMS will refuse to power the device — this is a protection cutoff, not a dead cell. Place the battery on charge immediately after unpacking and leave it connected for a full cycle before attempting to power on. Most BMS recovery circuits begin accepting current above 3.0V, so a short initial charge period is enough to clear the lockout.

Frequently Asked Questions
The AV400 shows a low battery warning straight after I charged the new battery all night — why?
A new cell has no charge history in the AV400's BMS, so the device applies the profile stored from the old cell and flags a low-battery alarm even when the new cell is nearly full. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle on the device before trusting the indicator. After that cycle the BMS recalibrates to the new cell's actual capacity curve. The alarm clears on its own — no reset required.
My AV400 is shutting off mid-procedure with this new battery fitted — is something wrong with the cell?
New Li-ion cells run warmer and voltage sags more under load in the first several cycles — the AV400's load profile during active near-infrared imaging stresses a fresh cell harder than a conditioned one. The BMS interprets that voltage sag as a low-cell event and cuts power to protect the cell. Run the battery through at least 10 full charge-discharge cycles before clinical use to condition the cell and reduce sag under imaging load. After that break-in period, mid-use shutdowns from this cause stop.
The charge indicator on the AV400 never reached 100% on the first charge of the new battery — is the cell faulty?
The charge IC in the AV400 applies a conservative current limit when it detects a new or previously deep-discharged cell, so the first charge may terminate early and display below 100%. This is normal behaviour — it is the device protecting against overcharging an uncharacterised cell. Disconnect, power on the device fully, run it through normal use until it prompts for charge, then charge again from flat. The second charge cycle should reach 100% and the indicator will read correctly from that point.
