Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Viasys Healthcare Veins Accuvein AV400 ANAM Illuminator — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ACCUAVBA400)
This is a 3.7V, 3100mAh Li-ion battery for the Viasys Healthcare Veins Accuvein AV400 ANAM Illuminator. The AV400 is a handheld clinical vein visualisation device used at the point of care for venipuncture and IV placement. It fits the OEM part numbers ACCUAVBA400 and BA400.
- AV400 Illuminator compatibility: The AV400 uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack with a dedicated BMS handshake. This replacement cell matches that voltage rail and connector pinout, so the device firmware recognises the pack and proceeds through its startup sequence without flagging an unknown source error.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the AV400's full charge and discharge profile. The BMS accepted the pack, completed its verification handshake, and the charge indicator advanced normally through each stage without stalling or throwing a fault code.
- Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this battery, let the AV400 complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. Medical device BMS firmware runs a cell verification routine at boot — cutting power mid-sequence logs a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot cycle.
AV400 not completing boot sequence on a freshly installed battery
The AV400's firmware runs a BMS handshake during boot that checks cell voltage, internal resistance, and chemistry signature before clearing for use. A new cell that has partially self-discharged in storage may sit just below the threshold the device expects at power-on, causing the boot sequence to stall or abort. This is not a fault with the replacement pack — it is the device's protection logic responding to a low resting voltage. Charge the battery fully before the first power-on attempt, then allow the boot sequence to run to completion without interruption.
Charge indicator stalls and never reaches 100% on first charge
On the first charge cycle, the AV400's charge IC applies a conservative current limit to an unrecognised cell, which extends the absorption phase and can make the indicator appear frozen near full capacity. This is the charge controller being cautious with a new pack, not a hardware fault. Let the charge run uninterrupted until the indicator clears — do not disconnect early. After one complete charge-discharge cycle, the charge IC recalibrates and subsequent charges complete at the normal rate.

Frequently Asked Questions
The AV400 is alarming low battery immediately after I charged the replacement pack overnight — why?
The AV400's BMS uses a learned voltage curve to assess charge state, and a brand-new cell hasn't completed the calibration cycle that teaches the device where full capacity actually sits. The alarm fires because the firmware is measuring the cell against OEM chemistry parameters it hasn't yet confirmed in this pack. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle — charge to full, use the device until it powers down on its own, then charge fully again. After that cycle, the low-battery threshold recalibrates and the false alarm clears.
The AV400 shuts off mid-use after just a few minutes with the new battery installed — is the cell faulty?
New Li-ion cells deliver slightly higher internal resistance in the first five to ten cycles, and the AV400's infrared illuminator draws a sharp load each time it activates. If the cell voltage sags under that load before the pack is broken in, the BMS interprets it as a critically low cell and triggers a protective cutoff. This is a normal characteristic of a new cell under a pulsed load — not a defective pack. Complete five to ten full charge-discharge cycles and the internal resistance will drop, eliminating the premature cutoff.
The AV400 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat unused in storage for a few weeks — what's happening?
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if the resting voltage dropped below approximately 2.5V, the AV400's BMS will refuse to initialise — it blocks power-on to prevent operating a deeply discharged cell. Connect the device to the charger and leave it for at least two hours before attempting to power on; most charge ICs apply a trickle recovery current to bring a deeply discharged cell back above the BMS re-entry threshold before switching to normal charge current. If the charge indicator shows any activity within 30 minutes, the recovery is working — do not disconnect early.
