Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Adapt Ion XRT — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (P2923.14.4)
This 14.4V 2000mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Bissell 2390A, 2390, 23903, and Pet Hair Eraser Adapt Ion XRT cordless stick vacuums. It matches the OEM voltage rail and connector, and the BMS communicates with the vacuum's charging circuit. Capacity is 2000mAh (28.8Wh) — same as the factory specification.
- 2390 series compatibility: The 2390, 2390A, 23903, and Pet Hair Eraser Adapt Ion XRT all run the same 14.4V architecture and use the same connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol. One battery services all variants in this line.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge, discharge, and motor-start cycles on a 2390A unit. The BMS handled the inrush current at startup without tripping overcurrent protection, and the charger accepted the handshake correctly on first connection.
- Dock charging habit on stick vacuums: Do not leave the vacuum on the charging dock permanently. Continuous dock charging on lithium-ion cells in this voltage class causes measurable capacity fade over weeks. Charge to full, then remove the vacuum from the dock until the next use.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
This happens when the motor draws more current than the BMS expects — usually because airflow is restricted by a blocked filter or partially clogged brush roll. The BMS reads the elevated draw as a near-depleted cell and throttles output voltage to protect the pack. The battery itself is not at fault. Clean the filter and check the brush roll for debris, then run again — suction should hold consistent through the discharge cycle.
Motor cuts out mid-use then recovers after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When sustained suction restriction forces the motor to pull above its rated current threshold, the BMS cuts power to protect the cells. It resets automatically after 30–60 seconds once the pack cools slightly. The fix is upstream: clear the filter, check for carpet fibre jammed in the brush roll, and confirm the dust bin is not overfull. If trips continue on a clean, unobstructed vacuum, verify the replacement pack voltage reads 14.4V under a no-load multimeter check before assuming a fault.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Bissell 2390A has noticeably less suction than when the battery was new — filter is clean, is the battery degraded?
A partially degraded lithium-ion cell delivers lower sustained voltage under motor load even when it reads full on the indicator. On the 2390 series, a cell that has lost capacity causes the motor to run below its rated RPM, which directly reduces suction power before the low-battery light triggers. We measured a drop in sustained output voltage on aged cells at around the 50% discharge mark — new cells held closer to 14V under load while degraded ones sagged below 12.5V. Swap in a fresh cell and test suction on the same surface to confirm the battery is the cause.
I've left my Bissell Pet Hair Eraser on the dock for months — now runtime is noticeably shorter than when the battery was new. Can this be reversed?
Continuous trickle charging on lithium-ion cells accelerates capacity fade because the cells spend extended time at or near full charge voltage, which stresses the cathode chemistry. This degradation is not fully reversible — once capacity is lost to chronic overcharge conditions, the cell does not recover it. Replacing the pack is the correct fix at this point. With the new battery, charge to full and remove the vacuum from the dock rather than leaving it docked permanently.
The replacement battery isn't being recognised by the charger — the charge indicator doesn't light up at all. What's wrong?
The Bissell 2390 charger expects a specific BMS handshake signal before it begins charging — if the BMS in the replacement pack doesn't respond correctly, the charger stays inactive and shows no indicator light. First, seat the battery firmly and check that the contacts are clean and making full contact. If the charger still shows nothing, try a full removal and re-insertion after 10 seconds to allow the BMS to initialise. If the charger accepts the pack but stops within a few minutes, check that your charger output is rated for 14.4V — using a mismatched charger from another Bissell model will cause the same symptom.
