Fits Black+Decker BDCD8GPA-QW handheld vacuum; replaces OEM part EPPRF72L.
7.4V, 2000mAh capacity delivers consistent motor voltage during dust removal cycles.
Slides vertically into the battery slot with a single locking tab engagement.
We bench-tested this cell in the BDCD8GPA-QW; BMS accepted charge within two cycles, no fault codes.
Do not leave this battery on the charging dock after reaching full charge — continuous dock contact causes capacity fade in cordless vacuums faster than standard cycling.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Black+Decker BDCD8GPA-QW / HNVC Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EPPRF72L)

This is a 7.4V, 2000mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Black+Decker BDCD8GPA-QW and related HNVC-series cordless handheld vacuums. It slots directly into the same battery compartment as the OEM cell and uses the same BMS communication expected by the charger. Rated capacity is 2000mAh (14.8Wh) — matching the original specification.

  • BDCD8GPA-QW, G9L72+, HNVC215B, HNVC220B compatibility: These models share the same 7.4V two-cell Li-ion architecture, identical connector housing, and the same BMS handshake protocol — which is why one replacement cell covers the entire platform.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge cycles on the HNVC dock and monitored BMS cutoff thresholds under simulated motor load. The protection circuit engaged correctly at both the over-current and low-voltage limits without triggering false trips.
  • Dock charging habit on these vacuums: Do not leave the HNVC or BDCD8 on the charging dock continuously. These vacuums lack active charge termination on the dock side — the BMS handles it, but trickle voltage over days accelerates cell degradation. Charge to full, then remove.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

On the HNVC series, the battery indicator reads cell voltage — not remaining capacity under load. When the filter is even partially blocked, the motor draws above its rated current. Voltage sags faster than the indicator expects, so suction weakens while the LED still shows adequate charge. This is not a battery fault. Clean the filter first, then re-test suction consistency across a full charge cycle.

Motor cuts out mid-use then recovers after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead cell. When sustained suction restriction forces the motor to pull current above the BMS cutoff threshold, the protection circuit opens and power drops. The BMS resets after a brief cool-down period — which is why the vacuum appears to recover on its own. Fix the restriction first: clear the inlet, wash the filter, and confirm airflow is unobstructed before attributing the fault to the battery. If trips continue on a clear filter, measure cell voltage at rest — it should read above 7.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My HNVC vacuum starts strong then loses suction halfway through, but the battery light isn't red — why?

The battery indicator on these vacuums reads resting cell voltage, not capacity under motor load. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw excess current, which sags the voltage and drops suction before the indicator catches up. This is a filter issue, not a battery fault. Remove, rinse, and fully dry the filter, then retest.

The vacuum cuts out for a few seconds then comes back on by itself — is the battery failing?

That is the BMS overcurrent trip resetting, not a cell failure. When airflow is restricted, the motor pulls above the BMS current limit, the circuit opens, and power stops until the BMS resets. Check the inlet nozzle and filter for blockages before replacing the battery. If it still trips on a clear airflow path, check resting cell voltage — a healthy cell at full charge should read at or above 7.4V.

I leave the vacuum on the dock between uses and now it runs noticeably shorter — did I damage the battery?

Continuous dock charging on these vacuums applies a low trickle voltage after the cell is full, because the dock itself has no active charge termination. Over weeks, that sustained voltage stresses the Li-ion cells and shrinks usable capacity. A replacement cell will restore original performance, but the same degradation will recur if left on the dock permanently. Charge to full, remove from the dock, and only return it when the cell needs topping up.
