Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Blaupunkt Lucca 5.2 / Travelpilot Lucca — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (7612201334)
This 3.7V, 2200mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Blaupunkt Lucca 5.2 and Travelpilot Lucca portable GPS navigators. It matches the OEM voltage rail, connector, and physical dimensions (67.59 × 18.54 × 18.54mm) the device expects. Capacity is drawn from product data — 8.14Wh total energy.
- Lucca 5.2 and Travelpilot Lucca fitment: Both models share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture, physical bay, and JST-style connector, so one SKU covers both. The BMS handshake is handled by the navigator's internal charge circuit, not the cell itself.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and full discharge on a GPS navigation load profile. The BMS in the Lucca 5.2 accepted the cell without fault flags, and charge termination cut off cleanly at 4.2V.
- Cold-start satellite acquisition after fitting: After fitting this cell and powering on, take the device outdoors immediately. A full power interruption triggers a cold start — the GPS receiver has lost its ephemeris data and needs a clear sky view to reacquire satellites. First fix typically takes 5–10 minutes; subsequent warm starts are much faster.
GPS accuracy reduced at low battery in the Lucca 5.2
When cell voltage drops toward the low-end threshold — around 3.4V on this chemistry — some GPS units reduce receiver sensitivity to protect remaining charge. On the Lucca 5.2, this can show up as position drift or a reduced fix rate before the low-battery indicator even appears on screen. The receiver is pulling less power, so the signal-to-noise margin tightens and weaker satellite signals drop out. Keeping the cell above 3.6V during active navigation avoids this behaviour.
Lucca 5.2 shutting off without warning before the battery indicator empties
This happens because the navigator's fuel gauge is calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell of the same capacity but slightly different internal resistance can hit the device's voltage cutoff threshold before the on-screen indicator reaches empty. The fix is to run two or three full charge-to-discharge cycles — the device recalibrates its voltage-to-capacity mapping as it learns the new cell's curve. After the second full cycle, the warning indicator and actual shutoff should align.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Blaupunkt Lucca 5.2 lost all my saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?
Yes. The Lucca 5.2 stores saved routes and recent destinations in battery-backed RAM, and a full power interruption wipes that volatile memory. The device's internal flash may retain some favourites depending on firmware version, but trip history and active routes are typically lost on complete power removal. Back up any important POIs via the Blaupunkt software before swapping the cell next time.
Satellite lock is taking 5–10 minutes after I fitted the new battery — something wrong with it?
Nothing is wrong with the battery. Removing the cell causes a cold start — the GPS receiver loses its stored ephemeris data (the satellite position tables it uses for fast fixes). Without that data, the receiver has to download fresh ephemeris from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes with a clear sky view. Take the device outside, leave it stationary, and let it complete the cold start once — subsequent power cycles will lock in under a minute.
The Lucca 5.2 drains noticeably faster when I'm actively navigating compared to when it's just sitting on the desk — why?
Active navigation runs the GPS receiver, map rendering, and display simultaneously, which is a much heavier load than standby. Screen brightness is the biggest single draw — drop the backlight to 50% or lower in the display settings and the cell will last substantially longer on the same charge. The GPS receiver itself draws a near-constant current regardless of route complexity, so display brightness is the variable you can actually control.
