Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Asus R600 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SBP-13)

This is a 3.7V, 2200mAh Li-ion replacement cell for the Asus R600 portable GPS navigator. It fits directly into the R600 housing and restores power to the navigation unit when the original cell has degraded. Capacity matches the factory spec at 2200mAh (8.14Wh).

  • R600 platform fit: The R600 uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack with a low-current BMS tuned for the GPS receiver and display load — no high-draw motor or burst current to manage. The SBP-13 cell meets that voltage rail and connector spec without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the cell through charge and discharge cycles on the R600 platform. The BMS engaged protection cutoff correctly at both ends of the voltage range, and the unit powered on and held charge through full navigation sessions without unexpected shutoff.
  • First-fix delay after fitting: After fitting this cell, power the R600 on outdoors and let it acquire a satellite fix before driving. Full power removal triggers a cold start — the GPS receiver rebuilds its almanac data from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes for the first lock versus under a minute on subsequent warm starts.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the R600

As cell voltage drops toward the lower protection threshold, some GPS units — including the R600 — reduce RF receiver sensitivity to stay within power budget. This shows up as a weaker satellite signal bar count and occasional position jumps, even when the unit is still on. The fix is straightforward: keeping the cell above roughly 3.5V maintains full receiver sensitivity. Charge the unit before extended navigation rather than running it down to shutoff.

R600 shutting off without low-battery warning

After a battery swap, the R600's fuel gauge is uncalibrated — it has no history of the new cell's charge curve. The unit's voltage-threshold indicator can read the remaining charge as higher than it actually is, then hit the hardware cutoff voltage with no visual warning. This is not a fault with the cell. Run the R600 through one full charge-to-discharge cycle on the new battery so the onboard gauge can recalibrate against the actual cell voltage. After that first cycle, low-battery warnings will appear at the correct threshold again.

Frequently Asked Questions

My R600 lost all my saved routes and POIs after swapping the battery — is there any way to get them back?

Saved routes and custom POIs on the R600 are held in battery-backed RAM, and a full power removal — which happens during a battery swap — clears that volatile memory. There is no recovery from the device side once the power is gone. Going forward, export your routes and POI lists to the SD card or PC via the Asus NaviPartner software before pulling the battery, and reload them after the swap.

Satellite lock is taking 5–10 minutes after fitting the new battery — is something wrong with the GPS?

Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery causes a cold start — the R600 loses its cached almanac and ephemeris data, which tells the receiver where to expect each satellite. Without that data, the receiver has to download a fresh almanac from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with clear sky view. Once that first fix completes, subsequent locks will return to normal warm-start times of under a minute.

The R600 drains much faster when actively navigating than it does sitting on my desk — why?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver and the display simultaneously, and screen brightness is the largest single draw on this platform. In standby or menu mode, the receiver duty-cycles and the display dims or sleeps. In active turn-by-turn mode, both run at or near full load continuously. To extend charge between top-ups, drop the display brightness to the lowest usable level in the R600 display settings — that alone has the biggest effect on total draw during navigation.
