Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Insignia NS-NCV43 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (653453)

This 3.7V 1300mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Insignia NS-NCV43 portable GPS navigator. It fits the internal battery bay directly and restores power to the GPS receiver, display, and navigation software. Capacity matches the factory spec at 4.81Wh.

  • NS-NCV43 fit: The NS-NCV43 runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-Polymer pack with a compact footprint — 56.70 × 33.70 × 6.40mm. This cell matches that geometry and the BMS voltage thresholds the device expects for charge acceptance and low-battery cutoff.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge under GPS-receiver-plus-display load. The BMS handshake completed without fault codes, and the device accepted a full charge from the internal charging circuit without interruption.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and let it acquire a full satellite fix before driving. A GPS performs a cold start after any complete power removal — first fix after a battery swap can take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts run under a minute once almanac data is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the NS-NCV43

The NS-NCV43 scales back GPS receiver sensitivity as cell voltage drops toward the low-battery threshold. This is a firmware-level power-saving behaviour, not a hardware fault. When receiver sensitivity drops, the unit relies on fewer satellites and position accuracy degrades — you may see the blue dot drift or routes recalculate unexpectedly. Keeping the cell above 3.6V under load prevents the sensitivity reduction from triggering.

Device shuts off without warning before the low-battery indicator appears

After a battery swap, the NS-NCV43's charge gauge is uncalibrated to the new cell. The on-screen battery indicator can read one or two bars and then cut to black — no warning shown. This happens because the voltage-threshold mapping is based on the old cell's discharge curve, not the replacement. Run two full charge-to-cutoff cycles and the gauge recalibrates; after that, the indicator aligns with actual remaining capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

My NS-NCV43 shut off mid-route with no low-battery warning — is the new battery faulty?

It is not faulty. After a battery swap, the device's charge gauge is still mapped to the old cell's discharge curve, so the voltage cutoff hits before the on-screen indicator catches up. Run two complete charge-to-power-off cycles and the gauge recalibrates to the replacement cell. After that, the low-battery warning will appear at the correct threshold.

The NS-NCV43 took over five minutes to get a GPS fix after I replaced the battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery clears the satellite almanac data held in memory, forcing a cold start on next power-up. A cold start on the NS-NCV43 takes 5–10 minutes to acquire enough satellites for a valid fix. Power the unit on outdoors with a clear sky view and leave it stationary until the position locks — warm starts after that run in under a minute.

My saved routes and favourite POIs are gone after swapping the battery on the NS-NCV43 — can I get them back?

Some NS-NCV43 data is held in battery-backed volatile memory, and a full power removal wipes it. If the data was not exported to the internal flash or an SD card beforehand, it cannot be recovered from the battery alone. Going forward, use the device's save or export function before any battery work to write routes to non-volatile storage. Check the NS-NCV43 menu under Favourites or My Places to confirm whether any data survived to flash.
