This 3.7V 700mAh Li-ion cell replaces the internal battery in the Bosch Nyon and Nyon Bordcomputer e-bike display units. The Nyon combines GPS navigation, speed tracking, and e-bike system control in a single handlebar-mounted unit. When the original cell degrades, the display loses power, drops navigation mid-ride, or fails to hold a charge between uses.

  • Nyon and Nyon Bordcomputer compatibility: Both variants run from the same 3.7V cell with the same connector footprint and BMS communication protocol. The S6EA part number covers both. Physical dimensions are 40.00 × 31.10 × 5.90mm — measure your original before fitting if yours is a modified or third-party Nyon housing.

Why the Nyon shuts off without a low-battery warning

The Nyon reads battery percentage from a fuel gauge calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A degraded or replaced cell with a slightly different curve causes the gauge to read incorrectly — the unit reports 20% remaining, then hits the hardware cutoff voltage and shuts off without warning. The fix is to run two or three full charge-to-discharge cycles after fitting the new cell. This allows the fuel gauge to recalibrate against the actual discharge curve and restore accurate percentage readings.

Saved routes missing after battery replacement

The Nyon stores some route and settings data in RAM that is held by the battery. A full power-down during battery removal clears this volatile memory. Downloaded routes stored in flash memory survive the swap, but any unsaved in-progress routes or recently added POIs may not. Before opening the unit, sync your routes to the Bosch eBike Connect app — this ensures everything is backed up and can be pushed back to the device after the new cell is fitted.

The first fix after a full power interruption is a cold start, which typically takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with clear sky view. Once the unit has acquired satellites and stored fresh ephemeris, subsequent warm starts return to under a minute. Take it outside and leave it running — the second ride will lock normally.

The Nyon is showing 30% battery but shuts off mid-ride with no warning — is the new cell faulty?

The fuel gauge inside the Nyon is calibrated to a specific discharge curve. A new cell discharges slightly differently from the depleted original, so the percentage reading runs ahead of the actual voltage until the gauge self-corrects. Run two or three complete charge cycles — charge fully, use until the unit shuts off from low voltage, then recharge. After those cycles the gauge tracks the new cell's curve accurately and the abrupt shutoff stops.
