Fits Rand McNally TND-510, TND-520, TND-525, TND-530 GPS navigators; replaces OEM part EU504046P.
3.7V 950mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers 3.52Wh — sufficient for full navigation sessions on truck routes.
Connector type mates directly to Rand McNally TND-series slot with standard polarity; no adapter needed.
We bench-tested this cell on a TND-510 unit; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion without fault cycles.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — cold start after power interruption requires 5–10 minutes for initial lock versus under a minute for warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Rand McNally TND-510 / TND-530 Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EU504046P)

This 3.7V 950mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the OEM battery in the Rand McNally TND-510, TND-520, TND-525, and TND-530 truck GPS navigators. It matches the original EU504046P spec and fits the same battery bay without modification. Capacity is 950mAh (3.52Wh), identical to the factory cell.

  • TND-510 through TND-530 compatibility: These four navigators share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and voltage rail. The EU504046P part number covers all four models, so one cell fits the full series without any wiring or connector changes.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the TND platform and monitored BMS cutoff behaviour. The protection circuit held within spec at both ends of the voltage range — no premature cutoff and no overcharge pass-through.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this battery, power the unit on outdoors and let it acquire a full satellite fix before driving. The TND-510 performs a cold start after any complete power interruption — first fix can take 5–10 minutes outdoors, compared to under a minute for a warm start once GPS almanac data is rebuilt.

GPS accuracy reduced when the battery charge drops low

The TND-510's GPS receiver draws continuous power to maintain satellite lock and process positioning data. At low charge, some units reduce receiver sensitivity to stay within the power budget, which can degrade fix accuracy or cause brief signal drops. This is a firmware-level power management decision, not a hardware fault. Keeping the unit charged above 20% during active navigation avoids this threshold.

Saved routes and custom POIs missing after battery replacement

The TND series stores some user data in battery-backed RAM, which loses its state when power is fully removed. Swapping the battery counts as a complete power interruption, so custom POIs and saved routes may not survive the swap. Rand McNally's TND desktop software can back up route data before you open the unit. Export your routes via the software first, then restore after the new cell is fitted and the device boots cleanly.

Frequently Asked Questions

My TND-510 shuts off with no warning — the battery indicator still shows charge when it dies. Why?

The battery percentage indicator on the TND-510 is calibrated against the original cell's discharge curve. When that cell ages and its capacity drops, the device's voltage-threshold reading drifts out of sync with actual remaining charge. The unit hits the hardware low-voltage cutoff before the on-screen indicator reaches the warning level. Run two or three full charge-to-cutoff cycles with the new cell to let the indicator recalibrate against the fresh discharge curve.

Satellite lock is taking 5–10 minutes every time I start my TND-510 after the battery swap. Is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong — this is a cold start, and it's normal after a full power interruption. The GPS almanac and ephemeris data that the TND-510 uses to acquire satellites quickly is stored in volatile memory, which clears when the battery is removed. The unit has to re-download that data from satellites from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes with clear sky view. Subsequent starts from the same location will lock in under a minute once the almanac is rebuilt and stored.

Navigation is draining the new battery much faster than standby mode. Is the cell defective?

The cell is not defective — active navigation is a genuinely high-draw state for this device class. The GPS receiver runs continuously, the processor handles real-time routing calculations, and the display typically runs at full brightness during turn-by-turn guidance. Combined, those loads draw several times more current than standby. Reducing screen brightness during navigation is the single most effective way to extend charge between top-ups on the TND-510.
