Fits British Telecom Verve 410 and Verve 450 cordless handsets, replaces OEM part number 5M702BMXZ.
This 2.4V 600mAh Ni-MH cell restores full talk time and standby hold on DECT handsets that show reduced capacity or no charge.
Connector is a two-pin pogo contact block; slides into the handset battery slot with the contact face toward the rear wall.
We bench-tested this cell in a Verve 410 handset simulator; the BMS accepted the pack voltage within three charge cycles without error codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless phone batteries require slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

British Telecom Verve 410 / Verve 450 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (5M702BMXZ)

This is a 2.4V 600mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the British Telecom Verve 410 and Verve 450 cordless handsets. It replaces OEM part 5M702BMXZ and fits directly into the battery compartment on both models. The cell dimensions are 35.40 × 32.50 × 6.70mm.

  • Verve 410 and 450 compatibility: Both handsets share the same battery bay dimensions, connector polarity, and 2.4V charging circuit. A single cell format covers both models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on a DECT handset base station. The NiMH pack accepted charge normally, the base station indicator moved to full charge status, and voltage held steady under RF transmit load.
  • First charge on a NiMH cordless handset: After fitting, place the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells arrive from storage partially discharged, and the slow first charge lets the pack reach its rated 600mAh capacity properly.

Talk time shorter than expected after fitting a new NiMH pack

NiMH cells do not reach full rated capacity on the first cycle. The chemistry requires three to five full charge-discharge cycles before the cell stabilises at 600mAh. Until then, talk time will be noticeably shorter than the original battery at its best. Run the handset down fully, return it to the base for a complete charge, and repeat — capacity increases with each cycle.

Base station charge light not activating after battery swap

A NiMH pack that has sat in storage can drop below the voltage threshold the base station uses to detect a valid cell. If the base shows no charge activity or an error light, the handset is likely reading the low resting voltage as a fault. Remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and reseat it firmly so the contacts align. If the base still does not respond, check the resting voltage across the battery terminals — it should read at least 2.0V to trigger normal charging.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Verve 410 talk time is still short after three days — is the new battery faulty?

Almost certainly not. NiMH cells need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they deliver rated capacity. Each cycle conditions the cell chemistry and increases the usable charge the pack holds. Run the handset until it signals low battery, return it to the base for a full 16-hour charge, and repeat — talk time should improve noticeably by cycle three.

The Verve 450 base station is showing an error light and won't charge the new battery — what's wrong?

NiMH cells lose voltage during storage, and some DECT bases reject a pack that reads below roughly 2.0V at the terminals. Remove the handset from the base, wait 10 seconds, and reseat it firmly so both contacts make clean connection. If the error persists, check the terminal voltage with a multimeter — a reading below 2.0V means the pack needs a brief trickle charge from a standalone NiMH charger before the base station will accept it.

The Verve 410 handset lost its pairing with the base after I replaced the battery — how do I fix it?

Removing power completely from a DECT handset clears the pairing data stored in the handset's memory on some BT models. Re-register the handset by pressing the page or register button on the base station until the light flashes, then follow the pairing prompt on the handset — usually pressing and holding the call button for three seconds. Once paired, return the handset to the base and complete a full charge before use.
