Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

The Conga 1690 motor controller monitors pack voltage under load, not at rest. When cells age and internal resistance rises, voltage sags sharply the moment the motor ramps up — particularly on carpet. The controller reads this sag as a low-battery condition and throttles suction output, even though the resting voltage still looks acceptable. A replacement pack with fresh cells restores the full voltage window the motor controller expects, eliminating the early throttle.

Motor cuts out mid-clean and recovers after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a battery capacity issue. It happens when the suction path is partially blocked — a clogged filter forces the motor to draw current beyond the BMS protection threshold, which shuts the output to protect the cells. The BMS resets once current demand drops, which is why suction returns after a brief pause. Clean or replace the filter first; if the cutout stops, the pack itself is not the cause. If the cutout continues with a clean filter, check that pack voltage at rest reads above 15.5V after a full charge.
