Warm the battery to room temperature and try again — Li-ion internal resistance drops significantly above 15°C. If it still trips, complete two half-load cycles first to allow the BMS to calibrate its overcurrent window before full-load use.
The charger blinks red on this new pack and never starts a charge cycle — what's wrong?
After storage, cell voltage can drop below the charger's acceptance threshold, which causes the charger to reject the pack rather than charge it. Most chargers require the pack to be above roughly 2.5V per cell before they will initiate a full charge cycle. Some chargers have a recovery or "wake" mode — consult the charger manual for a recovery input, or try a different compatible charger that supports low-voltage pack recovery. Once the pack accepts a charge and reaches 18V resting voltage, normal charging will proceed.
