Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Chameleon RF FL3500 / RF PB1900 / RF PB2100 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (DT-5023BAT)
This 3.7V 1800mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in the Chameleon RF FL3500, RF PB1900, and RF PB2100 handheld barcode scanners. It matches the original voltage rail, capacity, and form factor exactly. Alternate OEM references DT-5024LBAT and CA50601-1000 cross directly to this pack.
- RF FL3500, PB1900, and PB2100 platform fit: All three scanners share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.7V nominal rail, and BMS communication protocol — one pack covers all three without modification or adapter.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan bursts and wireless polling events. The BMS held steady through combined radio and trigger inrush without tripping the low-voltage cutoff or flagging a charge fault on the cradle.
- First-shift preparation for pick-and-pack use: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before pulling it onto the floor. Scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum state of charge — a pre-charged cell stops false BMS trips at the start of the first shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
Charging docks on the RF FL3500 series read the pack through spring-loaded contact pins. If those pins or the battery terminals carry any oxidation or factory residue, contact resistance climbs and the dock interprets the voltage drop as a fault condition. Remove the battery, wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the cradle slot with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat firmly. The dock should clear the error and begin a normal charge cycle within 30 seconds of correct contact.
Scanner dropping its wireless connection mid-scan burst
During a rapid scan sequence the scanner fires the imager, processes the decode, and transmits over the wireless link almost simultaneously. That combined draw — decode engine plus radio transmit — creates a short inrush spike. If the cell voltage sags too far under that spike, the radio module resets to protect itself, and the host system logs a dropped connection. This usually surfaces when the pack is below 30% charge. Keep the pack above that threshold during high-frequency scanning shifts and the connection stays stable.

Frequently Asked Questions
The scanner reads barcodes fine but keeps dropping its wireless link every few minutes during a busy pick run — is this a battery issue?
Yes — this is the combined radio-plus-imager inrush problem. When the scanner decodes and transmits at the same time, the current draw spikes, and a low or degraded cell sags enough for the wireless module to reset. We saw this trigger consistently on the bench when the pack dropped below roughly 3.5V under load. Keep the pack charged above 30% during high-frequency shifts and the dropouts stop.
The cradle flashes a charging error every time we seat the new battery, but the old pack charged without issue.
New packs sometimes carry light factory residue on the contact pads, and the dock's pin contacts accumulate dust in warehouse environments. That added resistance makes the dock misread the battery state and throw a fault. Wipe the gold terminals on the battery and the spring pins inside the cradle slot with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the pack with firm downward pressure. The error should clear and charging should begin within 30 seconds.
The scanner runs warm after a full shift even though the battery is still holding charge — is that normal?
Sustained scanning plus continuous wireless polling generates steady current draw inside an enclosed plastic housing with no active cooling. Some warmth is expected. It becomes a problem if the housing is too hot to hold comfortably, which usually means the wireless polling interval is set too aggressively or the scan trigger is being held rather than pulsed. Check the device's scan mode settings and switch to single-trigger decode — that alone reduces average current draw and keeps the pack and housing cooler through a long shift.
